yes j is in the imaginary number system, but it still exists and is widely used, especially in electronics when working with capacitors and inductors. j is 90 degrees out of phase with the real number system (leading or lagging when negative). the square root of -1 = j.

50 = 4 dozen (40 cents) + 2 ind (10 cents)

30 = 2 dozen (20 cents) + 6 ind (30 cents)
