After Watching Mutiny, The Wallisch Project, and the trailer for 4bi9 an Poor boyz's new movies, I don't think anyone can deny there has been a sicker generation of ski movies. Thoughts?
and it's way too early to tell this year but watching the walmart project and mutiny i thought to myself damn this is what urban has wanted to be since day 1. maybe they'll be landmarks in the level of skiing
Not gonna say it was the best outright, but 2010, which may as well be called the year of the dubstep soundtrack, also brought us Revolver, Eye Trip, Light the Wick, and The Way I See It. All of which were pretty sick.
Pre-2005 was such a difference I think, mainly because we didn't hear much online about what was happening through the year and high quality edits didn't exist. So every October was so exciting to see the new films which just blew our minds having not seen any progression for a full year. And with far less self-awareness it was just a different vibe.
If I had to pick one year, 2005. War, Shanghai Six, Teddybear Crisis.
2007 because idea by nimbus/pbp was such a sick movie and seven sunny days by msp was awesome... That's the movie with tjs famous rodeo five boarrow grab and Colby west lays down an inspirational sw cork 7 dub nose.
This season i found everyone's tried to come out with a new vibe for their film, Mutiny blew my mind with putting a dark spin on it. Its not all about getting that banger shot anymore, Their telling a story and catching your eye with something new.
Its not the best year of movies, but its definitely a step in a different direction.
I'm not sure how great Eye Trip was compared to other L1P movies... I would go with 09 or hopefully this year depending on the 4bi9 movie, Partly Cloudy, and McConkey which all look promising.
