Best way to pop

So I've been skiing for my whole life, but I taught myself all the basics for park since I never skied with skiers when I learned. And I just realized after seeing some video of myself that I pop really weird and I think it's not a good thing.
I kinda jump off one leg. Like how noobs often start to get onto urban rails but I think I do it all the time. I thought it was just on urban setup features that I did this but I definitely noticed that I do it off everything. I've seen people huck cliffs kinda like that in big mountain segments if you can't quite picture it.
Anyone else do this or used to at one point? It's ridiculous because now I need to make learning to pop one of my goals this season... Any pointers on doing it perfect, so I can learn real quick and get back to working on my other tricks soon?
Here's a pic of it onto a box. One ski obviously makes it over (way too high) and the other... Well on this particularly retarded hit it went right into the front of the box and I did an unintentional one footed hippy killer type thing.

Pop with even pressure on the balls of both feet and even pressure on shins, then turn to get on the box.

Don't think about sideways until you are in the air ya dig?

I kind of use my tails to pop it hard to explain, like I don't lean back but I pressure them and snap up onto the rail

One of my "friend" used to do this on every rail/boxes, and it is very unstylish... You should really learn to pop the right way IMO.

make sure to widen your stance, and just pop with both feet. its not hard to reteach, because i used to do that with all my lipslides. and it will help you so much with 270s on. im sure it was nearly impossible for you before..

can you ollie? like pop off the tails of your skis on the snow? not trying to be a dick, just asking.

Yeah. But I don't ollie much I think. Like I thought that's what I was doing until I saw pics/video of myself doing this other messed up thing.
Thanks everyone for the pointers. Keep them coming.

when you pop think about bringing your knees to your chest. And when landing on rails and boxes, visualize landing on the feature softly

i think this might be your problem. Pop off the lip as if you wanted to slide stright onto the box instead of sideways. when you're in the air, thats when you turn your shoulders and your lower body follows

I you don't need to do that onto boxes and rails that have a larger lip onto them. That box in the still you have looks like the lip is lower than the edge of the box, and the box is pushed up close to it, which would be enough to make you get onto it like that just because of your reflexes.
Try popping from one side of the box, almost like it's an urban feature. Concentrate on pushing off both feet evenly, Since you will have to pop to get your tips over if you come on from the side, it will make you learn pretty quick. If you try to step on one foot like that, you won't be able to slide the whole thing very easily.

also, focusing on keeping your hands at your sides will force you to use your feet, as you won't throw them up to help you pop.

you're putting more pressure on one shin. Either that or you're popping before you're spinning

it looks like youre trying to step on, one foot at a time, but with a jumping motion. (if that makes sense)everyone else already said the rest basically, just apply even pressure, pop, turn your shoulders and the bottom will followgood luck

every one else pretty much said it all, that your suppose to pop evenly off both feet and then spin.

i was thinkin, maybe since you bring your right foot up first and then ur left follows, try switching it up. so don't think about poping evenly at first but bring ur left foot up as you pop and then let ur right foot follow. idk if this will work but i feel like it will help you break ur habit of bringin ur right foot up first quicker. your taking ur problem and doing the extreme opposite. and then once ur habit is broken work on popping evenly.

popping too hard with the right foot + popping too hard with the left foot = even pop

^? hopefully lol...that is my theory in a nutshell

Hahaha that's pretty good. The thing is on urbans I do raise the left first, so I don't think that'll quite fix it. I just need to keep all these bits of advice in my mind and consciously develop the habit of doing it evenly.
