Best way to get sponsored

If I intend to get sponsored soon in my ski career, should I just keep trying to gain traction in Instagram videos with edits and such or should I be reaching out to company’s sending them edits and stuff.

If u are sponsored please tell me the path you took ?
 
As someone sponsored and as someone who is a team manager I can tell you that marketing yourself to companies is very important. It used to matter way more, purely how talented you were.

Nowadays no matter how good you are, chances are there is some 12 yr old on Instagram who is better then you. Showing a company why and how you can be valuable outside of just your skiing abilities is huge. This can be accomplished through, personality, marketing skills, video/photo/digital art skills, a job with influence(ski coach), etc. Simply being a really talented skier can only take you so far nowadays, plus it's good to diversify your skills and value to a company in case of injuries as well.
