Best way to fix an edge crack

cut the edge off with a dremel put epoxy in there move it around with a heat gun clamp it down against metal scrapers let it sit for awhile. use a file on the dried epoxy to get it smooth.

Do you recommend a specific epoxy? I just epoxied and clamped the edge but if that pulls out I’ll do that.

West systems gflex, I haven’t used it but I’ve heard it’s the best on the market. If not Just get a marine epoxy and it’ll do the job. I took out a good 3/4 of an inch off my skis, tried to get all of the debris out then tried to fit the epoxy deep within the base (use tooth pick) and then went excessive around the outside and onto the other parts of the edge, filed it down and it’s held up very nicely after probably 10 hours of skiing with all of the integrity still there (not looking weak)
 
Yeah do what you did and epoxy and clamp it back in, if or should I say once it comes out again it’s best to just remove/cut off the edge not intact with the ski and fill it with epoxy and just ride with a little less edge.
 
West Systems G-flex epoxy... coat the entire edge and where the edge used to be, then buy a bunch of quick grip clamps and squeeze a 2x4 or something between the clamps and ski to even out the pressure from the clamps on the edge and clamp the shit outta it.

Throw an addional clamp directly on the edge, perpendicular to the other clamps holding the broken edge next to the non-broken edge.

Only use West Systems G-Flex for ski repair
 
I've been playing around with different adhesives for skis recently. Still have to try G-Flex, but so far I've had much better luck using JB-weld's "plastic bonder" than the typical slow-cure generic epoxy. It is made to help bond to thermosets (the epoxy your ski is pressed with), thermoplastics (abs sidewalls) and metal (edges), and so far it's worked as advertised, seems to hold as a filler where I have coreshots exposing edge anchors far better than other stuff I've tried, especially better than ski shop base weld repairs I've had in the past. Glued an edge back in two days ago on another ski but haven't had much time to see how it holds.

Whatever you use, make sure to wirebrush/sand and clean up the metal edges as best as possible before you glue them. Even the oils on your hands can mess with the bonding.

Thanks. Just did a temporary shitty epoxy job with normal JB weld but I'll keep that in mind for when this inevitably pull out.
 
G-Flex is awesome. I've fixed a few issues with it, though never an edge crack specifically. One great thing I've noticed is that it won't stick to painter's tape when it cures. It makes it really easy to keep it from oozing all over the place while it sets, not to mention a layer of tape will also keep you from accidentally epoxy-ing your clamps to your skis.
 
It'll hold best if there is a clean surface for the epoxy to bond to. Try sanding the void and edge, vacuum dust out and then wipe it with a q tip or rag soaked in alcohol. Make sure to let it dry completely before adding epoxy. Can use vacuum to force alcohol to evaporate faster.

If the edge points up as if it's too long, you can grind it slightly shorter to make it fit better.
