Best way to bend fks

So i went to colorado freeskier in breckenridge, talked to kris the tech there, that everyone has suggested. He says that he doesn't bend fks to fit wider skis anymore. Says hes had to much trouble w/ breaking them and having to get the whole base part from rossignol. So I have to do it i guess. They're fks 155 and going on lizzies...so i gotta make em fit a 110mm waist. Right now i think they fit a max of around 90mm.

Any suggestions?

Or anyone know of a really good tech who wont fuck up in the Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne, Keystone, Breck area???

Or even Boulder if I really have to.

or peep tgr...i posted a thread somewhere in there. best way ive found is to clamp the whole bindings and bend with half a ski pole.
 
shit sry guys just searched and found that thread over on tgr. Anyone ever broken a pair themselves using this method?? I just wanna avoid breaking them and having to deal w/ rossi haha.
 
yeah i had one ski w/ a broken brake last year and it sucked. lost it in 2ft of pow on a chute in big sky...weak. and plenty of other times where i've just followed it through the woods. fuck that. and if it comes off and hits a gaper and they discover i have no brakes, you get sued and are fucked.
 
my sousin had no breaks and his ski came off, went about 600 yards, then into a gully, and we had to fish it out of a creek. dont ski without breaks!
 
the people i would go to if i were you is avalanche sports. im not surprised he stopped bending them around huge skis. we had trouble with my ant's 2 years ago. i have never had any mounts done at avalanche but word on the street is they will do it. a 12 pack wouldn't hurt your chances either. and not to name drop, but tanner had his skis mounted there. i noticed the sticker on his skis. lol.

I've used the first method myself and it wasn't too bad. If you've got a solid vice, old ski pole and a few screwdrivers then go for it. Just BEND SLOWLY and you'll be fine. Do one at a time so that you can see how it goes bac ktogether. The only tricky part is getting everything back together, the spring particularly. I put it in first and it's a royal pain in the ass. I have some 155s of my own to do so I think I'll try tapping it in last like some people in that thread say, and it's meant to be easier.

Check the last page of that thread too for an alternative method that doesn't involve taking the binding apart, but I think you could screw up because it'll stress the middle part of the brake piece. I've read some people (team managers even, I think) just mount the binding, crank the DIN, snap a boot in then bend straight and re-bend. I thin kthat'll stress the same place though.
 
I snapped one with the taking apart method. Sometimes, you just go too much, and BAM! Finding a replacement is a total pain. Took me 2 months to find one (Thanks Corndog!). Im still trying to find a pair for seanpistol. They are tough to come by.
 
Heat them up with a paint stripper or anything ells while in a vice then bend them with vice grips.
 
I took mine apart and mounted the brakes in a big vice and used a tube to bend them. Had no problems with assembly. Turned out great. I suggest you put the spring in before you put the rest of the binding together. Some on here are telling you to put the spring in after the binding is assembled, but that never worked for me. If you have an extra set of hands this will not be a problem. Good luck.

Half of people say to heat, the other half say heat will increase the risk of damage. I've never heated any brakes to bend.
