hi im new u probly read my "freshman" post entitled

snowboarder/skier

ne ways im pretty well convinced to do this whole skiing thing infact im pretty pumped for next winter but what im trying to inquire is what would be a very inexpesive entry lvel freestyle/park ski

if it helps at all heres my terrain

ok im from ontario so i usualy ski well groomed oftentimes icy trials rarely get any pow i would be skiing lie75 percent park and the other would be groomed trails and whatnot but i usualy go on a ski trip or two each year so that would be the only time id ride pow pow any cheap ski that could suit that sking style and my budget?

Find something a year or two old, and not too fat. I've seen Teneighties for $369 somewhere in Collingwood, I got my Concepts many years ago for half price because they were a season old.

If you are worried about carving in ontario, check out the Mad_Trix and Volkls, they have a reputation for being good at that, and I know my mad_trix will plow through anything. I heard the Atomic Tweaks had great edge grip as well.

If you aren't fat, you don't really need a super fat ski for powder twice a year.

K2 Fujative

Line 1260

Line Invaders

Rossignol Scratch Eco

Those tend to be the cheaper price point skis

Keep your eye out for older skis that are new but stores are trying to get rid of.

first off i had no idea k2 and atomis made freeskis thats pretty cool i can see now i have a lot more to learn.......ne ways so line have good prices i thot they werre like the most high quality freeski u could buy is that not true? and i love them neways and those new binding system they got looks sick but the 1260 would that realy suit my style(lol i dont even ski yet bt the terrain thing was an educated guess but i doubt ill be doing moguls but u never know)ne ways i thot rossi were the cheapest? no are they ne good?

Right now, Rossi Scratch FS are cheaper than Ecos at many places online (239$ US), that would be a good plan. They'd certainly fit what you're doing there, and they're good skis. Either that, or buy used from someone on here. There is no "highest quality freestyle ski brand" (although I'd like to say Armada), it's mostly preference in reality. 1260s are entry level skis for sure, but they'd work and you could get them for very little.

yea they're good. If I were you, I would look for some used, or maybe new skis, a year or two old. They'll proform the same, but will be a lot cheaper. Good Luck with your search.

Check ebay for something cheap. There are not to many twin tips on right now but closer to ski season there will be more.

wow that complicates things the one guy said rossi scratch fs totaly fit my style of skiing i just wanted to hear some on e agree with that

Pretty much. Although the the answer to "what can I get cheapest" is "02-03 Head Mad Trix" or the like, you might want to pass and head for something more manageable.

mageable meaning cheaper? or like being at my level of skiing(beginner) i think the d-structure site is fucked the prices have to me wrong half the line skis sat 9999$ and some say 1$ and the head mad trix was fuckin like775 so how expensive are these ead mad trix

?

By manageable I mean "not stiff as a 2x4 and twice as heavy". The skis at Dshop labelled 9999 are like that because you're supposed to call them to find out the price for them. They had a sale on recently, worth calling them up.

right now you can get 06 k2 fujatives, and 06 line invaders for 300 dollars, and if you want cheaper than that i would look for this years fujative on sale for cheap

First of all, How much $$ are you willing to spend?

We can work with you from there. But keep in mind you're going to need bindings/boots/poles. If you were to buy those Scratch FS's for $239, you're gonna need to add another $100 for a cheap (you pay for what you get) pair of bindings and then another $200 for a cheaper pair of boots...

Total (if you're lucky): $539...you can poles extremely cheap.

If you can, borrow stuff or use hand-me-downs. There's definitely nothing wrong with free gear.

or just go to your local hill and steal a pair of rental poles. ha

ya thats tru poles are like w/e ill use whatever theres the se cheap kerma ones my bro got for 20 buck canadian so w/e but do i want used boots ne ways the head mad trix are good value or no and i didnt know line made a ski caled the invader, is that new for 06?

ok this is the caption on the head mad trix.....

If you like going everywhere, if doing tricks and cool moves are you, then the Mad_Trix is your Park & Powder Tool

powder sum one told me this ski was pure what i was doing i said i only ski pow like once 2wice a year was that a mistake or does it just hapen to be a versitile ski personaly i like the look of it but ne wayz...............ya?

it also depedns on what size your getting, usually the junior ski's (130's,140's,150's) are cheaper than your average size ski.

ok, for entry loevel, I don't know if you want mad trix. my firend had them, they are really stiff and heavy. They aren't good in powder atl all. mad trix have a waist of about 75mm. An mad trix mojos are 95 mm waist. I think. So mojos are more of a pow ski. You can get mad trix with bindings for $200 easy on ebay.

05 k2 Fujatives will be good for you. They will n\be manageble for what you need. You can find them for just over $200. They are good in pow and all moutnain too for your trips out west.

Other skis to consider:

Volkl V's, just V, you can find them on ebay still and they are the old version of todays V-expression, which is a good entry level park ski.

I think you could find a pair of used skis in the ski equipment forum. Look through there and you can prob find skis with bindigns for $100-$150. You can find boots on ebay(though many people say to buy them at the store to try them on) for cheap. I got mine for $75.

i cant take him[liam downey] seriously cuz his name reminds me of that downy bear from back when i was a kid -d loc

I don't deny there are bad things in the US right now, hell, 51% of the country to be exact. But god damnit, our country being fat is NOT a problem. I do't give a shit how fat people are. hell, fat kids are harder to kidnap, that means our country is safer.

this is gonna seem like such a stupid question but.........shud i get skis then learn or get good and then buy skis would i save money on rentals?

if you plan on skiing much at all, you should just buy skis. renting kills time, money ( if you go more than like 5 times..) and the skis will be shitty and not twin tips. \

the 1260 would be a PERFECT beginner twin tip, as would the Scratch. both you can get for pretty damn cheap.

definitely dont get the mad trix, theyre good skis, but terrible for a beginner. theyre heavy and stiff as hell, and pretty skinny.

Just don't even bother with Mad Trix, they aren't a beginner ski. Meanwhile, don't rent, it's more expensive than buying beater skis and you'd get crappier skis from renting. If you really want cheap stuff buy it used, watch the ski equipment section and the classifieds.

so i just ahd a quick peak on e-bay is this along the lines of what u guys are talking about?

furthermore, how does sizing work on freestyle skis?

how tall are you and how much do you weigh? since you're just learning how you might want to stick with a shorter ski

get somethign around your height, give or take a couple inches

just go to a rental shop and see if they have any ex-rental twins, as they usually like to get rid of them after only a couple of years. i got ex rental 02-03 dynastar concepts for $250 aust. with bindings ($250 aust is about 150-200US) and they were in pretty good nick.

but first thing to look at: 2nd hand. new stuff isnt worth it if youre just starting out.

look for 04/05 scratches. they are a great ski and are super super cheap now. how tall are you ?

Any ski but something to fat or too stiff or tooo expensive. pretty much agreeing with everyone else.
