Hey guys

I wanna get a new car and my budget is around 7,000 usd. Something preferably awd and under 100k miles. I was thinking about a 2005 Volvo S60. What do y’all think. Any recommendations? I live in the Chicagoland area.

Its 9,000 for a 2005 wrx with 130 k miles. That’s ridiculous. What an overpriced piece of shit. Sorry to all the Subaru fan boys.

Yea I kinda agree with you on that one. In the past few years the price has gone up a fuck ton to the point where it's ridiculous. In my state about once a month you can find a good deal. But I've seen stock 07s go for $15,000-$20,000. It is pretty shitty. I still want one tho

Make sure to research repair/maintenance costs on the volvo. I think they're pretty high. Look to see if a timing belt or major service is coming up at 90k or whatever and see how much that'll run.

Used wrx and tacomas have the highest resale value of all cars and trucks. Anything you find at 7k is going to be high mileage, abused, wrecked or all of the above.

What about regular imprezas? Also where are you located so we can check your local craigslist?

Should be able to get a nice 1992 Volvo 240 for that, with a little left for repairs.

(NS, I'm disappointed that no one has said this yet...this place has lost its touch)

Get a truck. With that budget you'll be able to find a decent 4x4 Tacoma or Ranger with under 100k miles.

Ranger yes, Tacoma not likely. Here's a rusty taco with146k for $3500

That's not too bad if willing to live with or repair rusty bits. The others I saw on CL in that area for under $7000 have 200k miles and are likely rusty to boot.

Suzuki sx4, boost and awd, like a poor man's wrx. Slap a cargo box on top and you're good to go.

Dam that actually looks really good. Thanks a bunch dude

Look in places like Atlanta or Charlotte Craigslist for Subaru’s. The Subaru tax isn’t nearly as bad in the south as it is when I lived in PA and MT. WRX’s are still a little over priced but you can easily find a nice XT for that price.

Might find some well priced used wrx on Houston or Tampa Craigslist?

Seriously though, does one want to travel that far for a moderately priced used car? It makes sense if you're looking for something really specific to take a flight or tow something several thousand miles.
