Im a dutchman and ive only been skiing in France, Austria etc -> the Alps.I might wanna go to the US, but my question is do you guys think that its better than then European alps?Considering the money and distance, is it worth it? If yes, what spot would you recommend to go to?
thanks in advance : )

Well, im european and i can say to you that it really depends on what you want to ski.

If you want to ski park, Colorado is the place to be. If you want to ski trees and powder you should consider going to Utah.

If i were to go on a powder trip, i would go to Alta, Utah or Whistler, BC in Canada.

Yea well IF I'd go I would go for powder, funparks are everywhere after all..But do you think that it's worth the money? I mean I think I could go twice on a skiing trip in Europe for the same money as once in the US.

Come to Canada, it's really cool. If you have to go to the US though Utah gets a pretty stupid amount of snow i hear.

i'm from germany and i went to utah and colorado. colorado has better parks and you can get an "epic pass", it's a season pass for 5 resorts in colorado for around 570 dollars.

but utah has more snow and the terrain parks (or funparks if you want to call them that) are almost as good.

i recommend find a cheap place to stay in salt lake city and buy a season pass at park city mountain resort. the season pass for park city is cheaper than the epic pass, so on a nice powder day you can go to alta instead of park city.

Hang around Alta for powder, Hang around Park City for park( if you are in Utah) Otherwise Colorado apparently has the best parks in north America if that is what you are really into..PC has a really sick park though also. I think Park City (Utah) is 3rd best, Keystone (Colorado) 2nd?, and Breckenridge (Colorado) is #1 in freeskiier magazine's opinion. If you want all around i would say utah

Aight thanks for the replies, useful for sure. I think its more worth to try to get to the US / Canada when im going to study or something.. Im just 18 now so there is no way that I can stay in Utah/Brecken/Alaska etc. for a whole season, 2 weeks max.
So it's prolly more worth it to have some patience and go when im a bit older or take a sabbatical after I finished my school ;>
