Best US ski towns to work and play?

Yo I'm moving from NZ out to the US in November. Got a flight to LA and no other plans so far..WHATS GOOD?

Was thinking Breck but I've heard the town is a bit bougie so not too sure.

Keen to work somewhere either on or v near a good mountain or two.

TLDR Want to work and shred, dunno where to go. Hit me with suggestions!

Go to Lake Tahoe, or Mammoth
 
Salt Lake City UT is tight, you are about 40 minutes driving from Park City/Canyons also Brighton is a similar distance away. It is a really pretty city with some cool stuff going on, however lots of Mormons which can be a downside. Booze is pricey cause of the Mormons and stuff but in terms of being able to work/live somewhere and still get hella days on hill SLC should certainly be in the conversation.

Yeah mormons sound pretty lame. Are they super anal about fake IDs and underage drinking? Asking for a mate..

Oh boy. Be careful. Mormons are the uptight southerners of the west. Religion does weird things with forcing their values on everyone.

Under aged drinking will get you into shit in any state though. Even if you can legally drink in NZ if you're under 21 here you're underage.

You can probably find some cool people in the mountain towns to buy you some beers.
 
Puttin in another vote for SLC. Tons of gnar to shred, and good jobs. Mormons arent that bad though, but drinking is a PITA. Also, SLC is a good place to buy a cheap house. Boise is also really cool, I like it better than Salt Lake, but has less resort skiing around.

Yeah its gonna be dusty going from getting on the rark for the last 3 years to being on a fakie again.
 
Housing is kinda starting to get a little pricier in SLC due to mass growth of tech industry jobs and other stuff that pay really well + a lot of people moving here due to work. A lot of demand for housing it seems and kids coming here for school. Its still fun though, lots of cool places to check out, some of the best year round recreation (great skiing and amazing biking nearby and down south which is only a few hours drive.), all the national parks, its still a great basecamp for outdoor minded people looking to combine their careers with a lot of play.
 
and we're kinda past letting the mormons dictate everything. Sure there may be old powerful mormon money influencing some things but its not some sharia law bullshit. We get as fucked up and stoned as the rest of the US.
 
Don't listen to these idiots and move to a city. Move to a real ski resort with a free bus system and people looking to shed, Breckenridge, Jackson hole, Aspen, Mammoth... somewhere like that.
