Best Tree Skiing??

damn that is impressive is that all backcountry access? interior or coastal B.C.?Anybody else have some sweet tree skiing vids

Interior BC. The first is just a 20 minute walk out of bounds from Red. The second is all inbounds at Red.

so sick. people complain about too much POV stuff nowadays but for me gopros on lines like that are so fun cause they actually make you feel like youre skiing, throwing backies off sick lines and shit, not the alternate reality of park edits and shit. 2:36 was my favorite part

Haven't had the chance to go out west yet but Jay and Mad River are by far the best trees I've skied on the east

stowe, mad river, and sugarbush. meh for Killingtons trees.

wait scratch that, Mad river wins.

east coast ftw

damn that is impressive makes me definitely wanna get up there this year i will make a point of it this year lets go some more vid's of any tree skiinganybody got anything from jay?

Having skied many places I'd say interior BC for sure. Steamboat is also awesome on a powder day though.

Has anyone mentioned Japan yet? That would probably be near the top.

if we're strictly talking tree skiing, the east coast takes it hands down as far as technicality, difficulty and probably length of run too, at least the longest tree run of my life was in the east granted it was out of bounds

I've only skied at Revy, Whistler, and Whitewater.

I'm split between Whitewater and Whistler, they're just so different and both so good.

I hear Red sucks...

Shredding with Dick from Erik Pee on Vimeo.

whistler is definitely a strong contender, as with the interior kooteney/selkirk stuff obviously

my threads for videos, also i might be going to nagano next week, any recommendations for tree runs at shiga kogen?!

I'm sure it's not the best, but Wildcat in NH holds a special place in my heart. You havent skied tight trees untill you've skied east coast tight trees

dude we went to revelstoke together hahah

are you telling me sutton's trees were better than that?

i was thinking now japan but thats definintley an option i was just thinking N.A. but w.e. ik that Niseko has some filthy shit

well the shits so tight with small hardwoods and some softwoods like retarded u have to think about it the east's trees are definintely more technical and difficult but no pillows and shit

I grew up in Ontario, while there I spent quite a lot of time skiing Tremblant and have spent a handful of days at Jay. I have skied many other east coast hills, but those two are known to have good tree skiing for the east coast. I know that there are some nice "tight" trees in the east with a mix of hardwood and softwood. I can also say that I have skied Tahoe, Beaver Creek, CO, and some good tree skiing spots in Idaho and Washington (on top of everything else). Red Mountain, BC has tighter trees than anywhere else I have skied, on a steeper slope, with better cliffs, and more (and better) pow.

All you people saying the east coast has better tree skiing than the West Kootenays do not have enough beta on the subject.

Having skied Colorado, Utah, France, Switzerland, Italy, Autria, Germany, NZ and Argentina, I would say Bariloche, Argentina indeed has the best trees I have ever skied... so far.

What you want is wide spaced trees with no branches at the bottom and lots of stuff to play with (fallen trees, cliffs, pillows). That describes Bariloche, pretty much.

Some lesser-known resorts in Switzerland also have epic tree skiing that looks a lot like those BC videos posted above. Some of the best tree-days of my life have been in Spluegen and in San Bernardino, both in Switzerland.

Colorado has been disappointing so far (Copper, Breck, Keystone, A-basin, Vail, Aspen). Trees are too tight together and shit gets scraped because there are so many people skiing these resorts.

I still have to ski BC and Japan though, I expect both to be incredible for tree skiing!

That's like saying bumps are better than fresh powder because skiing bumps is more technical.

Skiing a forest that is too tight sucks, and it's the pillows and shit that make it incredibly fun!

people on the east need to get over their inferiority complex and realize everything on their side of the continent is second rate.

We get it dude, in youre opinion the Kootenays have the best tree skiing, say it few more fucking times. I've skied all over the world and can confidently say that the best, hardest, most fun tree runs of my life have been on the right coast. Just because you went to jay once and didnt find the goods means YOU dont have enough beta on the subject.

challenge accepted.

POV challenge of skiing the tightest tree line as fast and fluid as possible. Report back in May.

i hear what u r saying its definintely different skiing but i dont think that u guys have tighter trees some of the backcountry off the BACK of jay is effing retarded also some of the shit that are not trails at a couple other places ik like Whiteface get so tight u can barely fit a ski in there. The best/challenging/steepest/cliffyiest trees of the east are on the undesignated crazy glades like between skyward and cloudspin at whiteface just an example

please refer to jca's last post. POV off. it's the only way to figure out the true answer.

handsdown one longest steepest and best spaced trees of any of the 50 something resorts i have skied at

Does anyone else like their trees as tight as humanly possible? When i spent a week out in utah, mostly skiing ALTA all the tree skiing almost felt like a joke. Def. skied some stuff that was WAY steaper than the EC but tight trees are best trees

alta's trees on the far left skiers right is so sick and steep but not tight enough for me haha i fucking love jay and mad river and whitefaces tight as a school girl trees
