Best to learn on

if you mean rail, which im sure you do, i personally think, two rails say 3 inches wide, with a gap of 2 inchess in the middle.. i know it sounds confusing, but, of course, make sure the rails are exactly the same speed n such..

Flat rails are the easiest to balance on, but double barrels aren't too difficult either. Single barrel rails require more speed to stay balanced on them if in the park at a resort. Its different at an urban set-up, you can't really start with a lot of speed most of the time. So the easiest is...Flat Bar.

Flat rectangle rails are the easiest. Actually I think rainbows are pretty easy but it would be tough to make that.

On a different topic, does anyone find shotgun barrels and mailboxes hard? I always slip off of them.

I built my rail a week ago, I took a single round tube and I piled up some snow and put the rail on top, it was hard to learn on at first, but it becomes easy then you go to your resorts flat bar, and its extremely easy

yea...Watervilee has a ton of flat, regtangle bars that range from easy to kinks, up rails, and rainbows. so ive been doing alot of those. i tried a big tube rail and it was much harder

wen i had to learn i was at lake placid and they had no easy rails so i had to learn on a skiny ass rail

but once i got it down i was able to do everything else easy (flat, shotgun,...

i find that shotgun is the easiest to learn on but that you should try stuff on harder rails. that way, you'll be able to handle anything when the time comes.

I personally think shotgun, because it has all the benifits of a rectangular rail, but with rounded edges, so it doesn't kill your skis or your noggin

best order i think

box ==> flat ==> shotgun ==> reg rail==>and so on

The shotgun rail at my local park is the bane of my existence. It's made of really slick copper and every few times I hit it, I slide out real hard, and absolutely kill my hip, ruining the rest of the day. It's like 2 feet off the ground, its so gay, and I don't know why I even ever bother with it, but I guess its good practice because you have to lean forward so much more than on any other rail.
