why does this have down votes..? Mountains up north will clearly have better snow and terrain, but this is about as good as it gets for east coast resorts.
Whiteface I feel like you gotta hit on the right days unless you have edges. Great mountain but it's all vertical. I don't have edges, and I'm surprised I didn't get mangled a few times on some of the steeps. The park there deserves some serious ups. They've been building good jumps forever but the rail ham was lacking. The last couple years they've been putting out some sick shit.
Not sure why anyone even mentioned any place in mass.(obviously they're from there) Doesn't seem like the place to go if you're only hitting 5 or so resorts.
It really does depend on what OP is looking for. How much you want to spend, the big places vs the smaller operations, if you care how crowded it is, park all mountain or both, general snow conditions.
Timberline and Canaan Valley WV like the one dude said, check out Whitegrass if there is enough snow for backcountry. They all like 10 minutes from each other. and theres a tubing hill cuz I know thats what you really want
7 Springs deserves to be mentioned along with the New England resorts. I've been to Killington, Stowe, and Mt. Snow and those three are all top notch but i think springs is definitely up there as well. Especially if you're looking for great parks.
Whitegrass is the coolest place ever. Over 100 trails,1000 vert, no lines because no lifts. But if you want to tour over the either downhill resort, buy a one ride ticket for $10 and spend all day up on bald knob. When you've had your fill, ski back down to whitegrass for some moonshine and grub.
Haha yeah I know I organize the crews that maintain their tree skiing. If any of you guys are curious about the place let me know, I'd be happy to show you around. There really isn't a park to speak of, just a few features peppered around the hill- there is a shitload of steep shit to rip and lots of natural air options though.
Hell yeah man anytime! It certainly is a fun place, just no park. Patrol is super laid back and the people are really chill but the skiing is fucking intense. Lots of Boston peeps there too so you could probably figure out a ride share pretty often.
If I were you I'd go straight to Smuggs or Jay as I think Magic is about 3 hours from there. Not trying to discourage you from coming and checking it out, just that when you have those two options so close you may be a bit underwhelmed by Magic after the drive.
Bah I ski Jay probably 10 times a year and I have never been the biggest fan of smuggs. I ski whiteface most of the year but every once in a while I will pack my Shit and drive for a few hours, and ski wherever I haven't. This year was thinking Magic, Okemo, and Mt. Snow. That would cap off most of Vermont and new England ski stops for me. Going from big mtn to little mtn is no biggie for me. I just like putting notches in my belt.
