id like to ski some differnet resorts and just wondering where people recommend. want some great backcountry with a sweet jumppark! have spent a couple of seasons working in morzine, skied val d'isere and les acrs, so would like some other suggestions please!!
Europe is a big place. Where would you be heading?
Do you want to stay close to where you have skied because you've got Verbier (for incredible big mountain) and Chamonix (for gnarly big mountain as well) a train ride or drive from the same airport (Geneva) as Morzine.
Plus with Morzine, you've got the whole Portes du Soleil. How much of that have you skied? Chatel isn't really my type of spot but that's on your doorstep and then you step over to the Swiss side and you've got miles of potential powder in Champery (if you don't believe me take Level 1's word for it - twice) and the superpark in Les Crossets. It's not huge but it's got a strong 4 to 5 booter line that gets built up throughout the season as well as a rail line and jib line.
That is just one very very small section. If I had the funds I'd just fly to Geneva and stop at every resort within a 4 hour radius. That's your season filled.
Salzburg Ski Amade. A ton of resorts (some large, some tiny) all under one lift pass. Decent bus system connecting them. Lots of racers there so I found the pow doesn't get tracked out that quickly. They also have a really solid park at Flauchauwinkl.
ad Samnaun-Igschl to that list. Zermatt is also an awesome place, but just like St. anton freaking expensive, but has some great freeriding opportunities.
Hintertuux rocks, just like Les2Deux alpes for the park!
Straight up Austria Salzburg area my family lives there and we go every year and its a great time of partying and drinking but for skiing the zauchenzie is awesome for steep speed and all around fun the flaukauwinkile absolute park is not quite what I was expecting sense I'm used to a big mountain having nice parks. But it's still awesome like any park is. Mayrhofen is awesome best park I think in Austria... If you get a chance to stay in Salzburg take it there's nothing like it and all of the food and beer is amazing => most of all though hit up the Beir Steubie in Salzburg best food and beer ever!!!!!
best tip for you is zillertal.. You have mayerhofen, hintertux and especially hochfuegen-kaltenbach area... There are better places for paties in austria, but in terms of skiing zillertal is number one for me
cheers guys, seems austria is a popular choice, ive never really considered it much before for some reason, but will def keep it in mind when im next looking for a last min bargin to get out on the slopes. every year its getting more and more tempting to go do another season. but im saving to go do a heli-ski holiday in canada or alaska, seen an awesome looking place to do it in canada on the alaskan border, last frontier i think, but as its £7000 just for a week it takes a bit of saving. sod putting a deposit on a house, i wanna heli-ski!!
