Best ski movie of all time

despite ROyalty being the best for its time, I really dont think it beats out the new movies. Like.. what makes a movie good?

a) Calibur of riding: Royalty gets beat out by pretty much ANY ski movie today, no questions asked.

b)Calibur of shooting... Im gonna have to say that something like red tape beats it out.

c) Feel... Red tape...

d) Editing... I dont really remember, but I didnt really see any groundbreaking editing in royalty... SO yeah...

I dunno... Royalty cant really be the best of all time, if it doesnt stand its ground still. I think this question is kinda flawed... because the new movies will always be the best... Unless a year goes awry.

The calibur of shooting in Royalty was soo good, just check out Pollard's follow cam.

There wasn't any fancy editing in Royalty but that doesn't always matter, the movie flowed so well and that in itself could be classified as good editing.

But obviously this all opinionated so I can understand why you might like other movies more.

yeah well everything is relative mikee. i mean anything that's ever done or accomplished is appreciated for how it affected us/the world or whatever IN that time. of course things progress as times go on so everything that comes later is naturally going to be better. so we have better editing capabilities now, and better tricks to throw down.. but when i go back and watch a movie like royalty, i'm genuinely entertained, and moreso than i am from watching movies from the more recent years. all the music is going downhill, and everybody is turning into a gangsta and wants to be like tanner hall, and it's getting stupid. i was def a fan of the rockin days where people were classified more as 'dude' than 'dope'. happy dayz is another good one to watch because of that aswell. everyone was out having a good time, not worrying about 'ok, i have to land this PERFECTLY so i don't get bashed' or 'i can't celebrate my landed tricks because it's not the gangsta thing to do. i have to just ride away like it was nothing.' it seems there's more pressure on people these days and it's starting to ruin what skiing used to stand for... freedom.

stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

ROYALTY was a movie, all shot in 16mm. it is so dope. very unique still to this day.

skiing is so hot right now!!!

Strike Three was pretty far ahead of its time for urban too! That quad kink that Steele switchups is rather large. And that huge quad kink in Ottawa that Hibbert slides. Progressive flick, still my favourite, but the new ones still beat it out if you look at them in categories.

^ she said it, i remember seeing that movie and just being blown away.

SKI MOVIE 2 and PROPAGANDA are the best in my my opinion because those were really the first films that showed what the sport was going to become (i.e. the 1080 team, mike douglas' backcountry slopestyle, Seth and McConkey tearing it up in Bella Coola....Doesnt get much better than that.)

And God damn, You remember when JP did the loop??? At the time and still today that was DAMN SICK!!

High North Session 2 - 2005

The Aladin to Mandalay Bay we tried to find a table that paid. The roller coaster at New York new york and the buffet line i saw Bjork. Bjork Bjork!!! is that really you???? i cant believe it, this is so cool, remember me from Cincinatti?? I was in the front row SMOKING A FATTY!!

Hot Dog! hands down. what other movie has both skiing and sex in it. plus lots a huge daffies n ballet n Chinese downhill. sick!

they should make a modern day version with like TJ Shiller Dumont n Tanner, some foreign guys like Jon Henrick n Gagnier, and Kristi as the hottie, Sarah as the other chick, and Martinod as a foregn chick.

boost! boom-bap.

1242 for skiing or wicked for overall

skien_freak, I agree with your opinion, but I have to say that you messed up the Iannick Broulette thing... it was freedle coty interviewing for the orange masters

i recon ski movie 3, propaganda or tgr high life, all for their own reasons

-------------------------------------if I ever see Shane McConkey, I'm going to point at his skis and go 'Dude, they look like waterskis!' just to keep the trend going.
