Best resorts to be a ski instructor

I am a ski instructor from NZ and want to come to the US to teach for a season. What are the best resorts in the west coast US or Canada? (Anything other than vail as I hear that is very shit)

Any suggestions would be great as I know almost nothing about skiing abroad.

If you want to ski more than work, somewhere low key like Castle Mountain Ab. is the way to go. Alberta is a good bet because your NZD will go farther and there's no provincial tax, only the 5% value added tax on anything you buy. Lake Louise is a fantastic mountain and great if you want to advance as an instructor. There are high level instructors everywhere there who give clinics and whatnot. I hear you also get commissions at Lake every time a person who took their first lesson with you comes back. Fernie BC is also a great option.

For US west coast resorts I would consider,

Palisade (Squaw valley) would be rad to ski at for a season.

Mammoth is another west coast resort worth it.

In Colorado resorts that would be rad and have a housing deal would be:

Aspen/snow-mass, Telluride, steamboat , and copper Mountain.

Utah: Snowbird or Alta

My choice for Canada: Revelstoke

Revy is sick to ski at no doubt but teaching any beginner lesson would be terrible there. The beginner area at the bottom has no snow for half the season and the alternative is the Last Spike which is a long, narrow snaking t2b run.

Had a buddy that was an instructor at Jackson hole and made decent money. was always tipped out well after a lesson and the starting rate was like $18/hr this was also a couple years ago so I’m sure that’s been bumped since.

If you can get a J1 visa, go to Aspen, hands down the best pay in the US, tricky to find somewhere to live, but that's every ski town at this point.

I have heard good things about Aspen by some other instructors, Might have to check it out

Aspen is underrated imo. Corporate but they at least pretend to care about employees.

Check on your visa options. A lot of people struggle to come to America but have a better time finding work in Canada. As of a few years ago some friend said it was significantly harder to get a visa for Canada though.

Personally i wouldn't worry too much about the mountain name. If you can get a visa or mtn woll sponsor you, have housing, and pay isn't bad that's pretty good. Don't worry as much about the name.

If you're specifically looking for terrain ie good park, steep chutes, or anything like that maybe choose a little more. Just saying that it doesn't matter too much at most places. Some places treat employees better but it can be hard to gauge from the outside.

Also. If it works out i would recommend extending your trip a bit. Travel around amd see some thing. Always a big plus when traveling. Can't recommend it enough
