Best Resort for a season in the West?

A few mates and I are interested in doing a season somewhere in either Canada or the US for the winter of 2015/16, but are unsure of where to do it!

We are all experienced skiers but are not familiar with working in the snow. We want a good mix between the crew vibe of the town and awesome pillow lines ;)

What can you guys suggest?

Cheers in advance.

Hands down, Whistler. It has the most variation, sick park, nice bowls, and the people are awesome! Plus you're bound to run into some pro's and they're always nice to meet!

breck or vail IMO. breck has a better town but vail has arguably better terrain, at least more variation in terrain. either one you get to be within a 45 min drive of 5 or 6 amazing mountains and a good apres ski scene. that way you can just chose a mountain based on what you want to ski that day and all of the mountains in the immediate vicinity are on the epic pass so no need for multiple season passes like in utah

I highly recommend Tahoe (Truckee, California) or Whistler, British Columbia. If you're willing to go through the process of getting a visa, Whistler might be my first choice if you want a more cultural adventure - even though it is just Canada. Both will provide for a killer time.

Cheers for the responses! I have skied Vail before but when I was much younger so I don't remember much of the town.

Would being based in Vail for the season be a good decision in terms of a town vibe? I have heard it can be a bit touristy!

Vail is definitely one of the most touristy resorts in the world, the "town" of Vail consists of higher end restaurants, shops, and hotels surrounded by multi-million homes. Breck is fairly touristy as well, but the town has a better vibe to it.

I've never been to Whistler but I'd pick Whistler. Pretty sure they have a great park up pretty early, terrain is awesome, and I've heard only good things about the town.

Breck or salt lake city, honestly. Both are extremely close to at least 5 amazing resorts for whatever you're into.

Legal weed might be a factor, and the fact that like half of utah thinks coffee is of satan or someting.

Basically go to Colorado.

Are you looking for the best skiing or the best resort vibe experience?

The best skiing wont be near the tourist traps. I love Whistler but you're always fighting a crowd for snow. I've never been to Vail or Breck but I'm willing to bet its no different.

The interior in BC has dope lines, snow and no crowds. But there won't be the typical season party and night life for you and your amigos.

I personally love the terrain in Vail.. so much variation and its a massive resort so you have a lot of space to yourself in comparison to other smaller ones. I would be more than happy to go there but I just not sure about the town. We don't want to be based in a town with no vibe!

Cheers for all the responses though!!
