Best parts of SLC to live?

perhaps

Moving out early June with a buddy. Budget will probably be about $600-800 a month for rent, which will be split. What are some good areas to look for apartments? Cottonwood Heights was recommended by someone. How is Midvale? I know there's a lot of cheap housing, how is the area? Looking for a decent area close to jobs and park city.

Any other info or advice on the move is appreciated as well. Heading out from NY, stopping in CT, then off to Utah.

At least a couple years, so I can always move again later on. But what's a good cheap starting place that's in a good area?

I moved out last season and originally lived in Sugarhouse. Pretty close to the center of it too. Its a sweet area, lots of things to do. But I worked and skied in LCC, as did all of my roommates, so it was a bit far. This season I'm living in Sandy, about 5 minutes from the base of the canyon. There is really nothing to do in Sandy, but the Hogswallow and Canyon Inn arent too far, and LCC and even BCC are close.

It's hard to say which area I like better. There was a lot more to do in Sugarhouse, but since I worked and the majority of my social scene was at Alta, I spent a lot of time there. That's still the case, and I spend most of my time up in LCC, mainly because there ain't much to do in Sandy.

but I guess to answer your question, both areas are good, and have their pluses and minuses.
