Best Park Helmet?

Looking for a new helmet. Mine is heavy and insanely ugly (giro nine.10). What are some good looking and good performing park helmets? I care about how it looks because my last helmet stuck out like a sore thumb when I was skiing and it kind of distracted me from what I should've been focusing on. I'm leaning towards the Smith Maze Matte Black so does anyone have any experience with it?

It does not matter what it looks like if it does not fit you. Go try some on with your goggles and see what works for you. Just one thing though that nine.10 I not very heavy so you may be surprised by th weights so just a note reason to go try some.

really? Would it be because my head is a lot smaller than the size I got? I have to adjust it to be as small as it can go when I use it

Maybe. Hav you tried on any other helmets to compare? The one you have has a tonn of vents which makes it pretty light.

I tried on my friends old smith helmet. Looked nice, fairly light, but didn't fit me well (not my size). When I was at the store I was rushed because our freezer went out at home.

After owning a receptor, I gotta agree with this post. They're incredibly overrated, and vanilla as balls. Mine fit my head very well, but was way heavier than other helmets I've had in the past, and also started to fall apart after two 60-day seasons Definitely not worth the full price, but luckily I only paid half.

The sandbox legend is actually an awesome, classic skateboard-style helmet that I haven't heard any complaints about. I just picked one up this week, hoping it lives up to my expectations.

If you are looking for a soft foam for preventing concussions, then go with the bern Macon.

If you are looking for a hard foam for preventing skull fractures, then go with the POC receptor backcountry.

For normal park skiing, as long as you're not hitting 65'+ jumps, a soft foam helmet is the best option for you.

Poc makes some great helmets that look good. in my opinion, im not a fan of the maze at all. its too light and flimsy, doesn't pack as much protection as say a poc or giro helmet does. giro especially has stepped their game up tremendously in the brain bucket game and have some great products. poc is my personal favorite, i love my receptor bug and its provided superior protection, especially digging deep into the trees to find some good lines.

tl:dr, if you have the money, i suggest either poc or giro. not a big fan of smiths helmets.

TSG Helmets look nice , are cheap and are available in a variety of colors and designs ! I'm happy with mine and would get it again anytime. Also fit perfectly with my Dragon APX

dont get a helmet with a visor. Go for the smith maze if it fits. I had the holt and I don't like it nearly as much as my maze

This is a good point. I think for skiers even small peaks are not ideal. I find as soon as your going fast the peak, even if it's small catches the wind and it try's to pull the helmet up off your head. They work for boarders better as boarders generally have a differnt head position to skiers and it's not such an issue.

definitely the new giro combyn its meant for park and even pow it is new soft shell so it doesn't break after you fall once like the hard shells such as the poc receptor bug. Also it is made and designed to be very low profile because thats what team riders such as mike riddle asked for, i have one and it is awesome super comfy and forms to your head. GET IT

i got this one for easter ( cos i have to put a beanie underneath my k2 its too big) and it's quite cheap for the quality. even tho it's originally for skateboarding it's good for skiing park too dw.

If you only ski park go with the goggles under helmet fo sure a,d then get a helmet with no ear protector.

Protec is great! (here's the one i got, super nice: http://www.shopprotec.com/skate/the-classic/classic-matte-rasta-green.html )

why don't you just get a regular helmet and take out the ear muffs things

Yeah, if the maze fits, I'm getting it.
