Best Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker

Hey gang,

So, I need a new rugged bluetooth speaker that bumps. I used to be with Outdoor Tech, but the Big Turtle Shell doesn't project sound very well and doesn't have great sound quality either.

I've recently found DemerBox (https://demerbox.com/) and they're fucking rad, but cost $400.

Is there a product that's somewhere in the middle? Loud, rugged, good projection, and less than $400?

I have the Altec Lansing lift jacket and love it. I've put it through the ringer and it still works like new (left it outside camping overnight in a rain storm). Its basically everything proof, and as an added bonus it floats!

Only con is that it is not a 360* speaker like the turtle shell. Excellent price point though.

UE boom 2 is super sick. I've had mine for a year now and don't have a single complaint.

I second the power tool speakers. They are sweet. I also have a smaller jbl one that like to.

BRAVEN PRO

I have one of these with a solar panel attachment. 30 hour battery life without solar charging. Can charge other devices off of its battery. Fully waterproof and can be run over with a jeep. Super legit product.

Not what OP wants but if anyone needs a lightweight to ski with. The little i homes are $10 on amazon. I had one for over a year in shit weather, froze it into the snow, always worked well. Not ridiculously loud, but super loud for the size.

Also there's no weight so you can lap the park with it easily. I just lost mine last week so buying another.

I got a Moki Aquabass for christmas and its worked perfectly since. Its small, waterproof and is pretty loud for its size. Cost around $40

I use my UE boom for almost everything. Works really well actually

I was going to suggest the Megaboom. Super baller and you can get them for like $200. My buddy throws his in the pool, sticks it in the sand, etc. No issue.

I have the UE Boom 2 as well. Battery lasts forever, very loud, decent sound, 100% waterproof (they actually tell you to clean it with warm soapy water lol), it's durable (I've dropped mine down a whole flight of steps before, it has a steel hook on the bottom to use if you want, and it's shaped like a 16oz can so very portable and easy to store in a backpack.

The UE speakers can also link up for party mode so if your buddies have them, you could literally have the entire section of the chairlift blasting the same song.

Amazon usually has sales so it's easy to find overstock ones on huge discounts.

My only complaint is the bluetooth range isn't as far as they advertise but still adequate.

For my specific use of skiing around and working parks all day, Boombotix are the best I've found. Small form factor, hands free compatible, waterproof to 3m, decent battery, a BEEFY clip that makes it stay put in most situations.

They've kinda fallen off the radar a little bit because they put a TON of money into developing headphones in a super saturated headphone market. That move never made sense to me but their speakers are bomber anyway.

Pretty sure skullcandy makes pretty good speakers

Ya, I wouldn't buy Outdoor Tech again either, but my OG Turtle Shell has lasted me almost 10 years now and still sounds decent but not great. Definitely doesn't project sound well, though.

I have friends who have both the JBL's and the Bravens. Both have their own unique selling points. The JBL's have great sound quality and you can link multiple together at the same time to cover more sound over a larger area and to create surround sound, while the Bravens sound pretty damn good and are nearly indestructible.

I've really enjoyed my OT despite it not being very loud. A few of my bros have the JBL with the funky lights in it and that is loud/has good battery life, but i've never owned it. My wife got the SoundLink Color Bluetooth® speaker II a few months ago for around the house and I was shocked about how loud it is. Definitely recommend. Get it on sale at Best Buy and add the insurance so when you trash it in the next year you can go back and swap it out. Appears fairly durable though.
