Best mountain in the east coast?

Which east coast mountain is the best for skiing? (Not taking into account social scene)

Defiently killi all around but their might be better mtns based off certain aspects of skiing you like. Weather it’s just rails, groomers, steeps, jumps, bump runs, pipe, freeride terrain there’s certain mtns that are amazing for that specific thing, but killi has a great bit of it all
 
If you don't have specific terrain you're looking for you can't really go wrong at Killi, has a bit of everything and is huge. Only negative for me is the weather there gets gnarly. I don't think I've ever been on a trip to Killi (been like 5 times now) where I had comfortable weather the entire time. Still love it and will continue taking trips there!
 
Killington is the breckenridge of the east coast. Literally everyone who lives in a big east coast city and doesn’t really ski plans a trip to killington. Drive further north and hit sugarbush / jay / the loaffff etc.
 
I know a lot of VT mtn's have awesome skiing like Jay, Sugarbush, MRG, and Killington. If you catch Whiteface in NY on the right day it is bomb.

It’s tough to say because a lot has been changing here lately but overall, Killington. I would say Stratton but I haven’t been there in so long.. I had a fucking blast tho. Beautiful place.

Theres a lot of great options tho out here, great variety depending what kind of skiing you’re tryna get into that day. I could literally go on for hours lol

Also, everyone I’ve ever talked to on a lift always shits their pants about Jay Peak… Idk I never been so I can’t speak on it but I’m pretty sure that’s #1 big jawns
 
Killington hands down. Also anyone who argues Stratton okemo or mt snow have no ground because they’re all flat.
 
in terms of snow it's probably val d'irene, best pow skiing I've done on the east coast and it's not even close
 
I’ve had probably my deepest east coast day at Whiteface and they had the slides open. 2+ feet fresh.

I sorta put them in tiers because (IMO) they're all quite similar...

1. Sugarloaf, Killington, Jay Peak,

2. Loon, Sunday River, Mt. Snow, Sugarbush, Stowe

3. Cannon, Smuggs, Okemo, Pico, etc.

But they do all have their specialties....Loon and Sugarbush have the best parks, Cannon and Jay are the best for 'powder' days, and Killi, Loaf, SR are sorta just great all around mountains for big crews.

So ya...my fav is Sugarloaf, but 'best' I'd prolly give it to Killington.
 
i've always loved Stowe. the Front Four skiing is great if you are a first chair kind of person, then when the crowds fill in you can do park laps on the triple. they've always had a really flowy and well put together setup top to bottom of the triple. i also like lapping the gondola and just ripping cord underneath it. planning to do the Chin and Rock Garden hikes this year if i can.
 
Basing this on personal preference towards natural terrain and holistically based on crowds/vibe as well, I'd say top five IMO:

Jay > Loaf > Sugarbush > Stowe > Killington

I was about to say..

Mont tremblant is good and has a good amount of terrain (for the east) but there's quite a lot of people. Mont Saint Anne is also good. I haven't been to le massif yet but it seems like the best hill in quebec for freeride.
 
Ill throw in another vote for Jay. The further south you are the powder tends to be wetter and heavier. In my experience I've always found the pow days there to be the best kind. Dry and fluffy like out west. Plus its not as crowded as places like Killington, and less gapers.

Yeah Jay and Smugglers Notch get my votes. Not to mention a lift ticket at smuggs is $56 online. The groomers are ass at Jay but if you're there for groomers, you're doing it wrong.

This exactly which is fucking hilarious because half the goons on here are cumming all over Killington. I get it, they have variety, longest season, biggest vert, a park, some famous runs, and good acreage but goddamn the people make it the worst. I'll ski there but by no means would I ever put it in a Top 3 for "best resort".

I've heard tons of bad things about tremblant. Mont Saint Anne is sick and Le Massif is too, Stoneham used to have amazing parks not sure if they still do, and Mont Sutton has great tree skiing. There are tons of hills I've never been to up there

this is very true which is why you gotta check out val d'irene dude, 100% natural snow, the whole backside is glades, and there is a sidecountry zone you can tour to. I felt like I was in BC at certain points

I've heard great things about Sutton. I'll make it up there eventually. Crunchy ole sailboat guy told me the woods were amazing up there.
 
Dude I know it’s pretty funny. For a website that obsesses over the word “core” you would think they could pick another resort besides killington, the most basic bitch in the north east.

This but id switch out sunday river for killington
 
jay goes absolutely stupid especially over march break, i have personally skied like 20-inch days there or something similarly ridiculous

their park is also pretty gas and always has some interesting features + well built jumps

I could get on board with that, Killington in theory is a sick mountain but I've always left it feeling kinda meh. Just super resort-y and kind of a funky mountain layout. Good for laps early or post-season though

When it comes to the east coast, conditions play as much of a role as anything. I've had some incredible days at Creek, Belleayre and Hunter even though I kinda consider them to be "fake" mountains. I grew up with Okemo and Killington being my 'home base' so-to-speak. I love them both to death, but with the current lift ticket prices/blatantly obvious global warming that is occurring, I'm no longer interested in planning trips in advance. I'd rather be a hound about the weather reports and go up on a whim.

I also spent a decent amount of time at Smuggs in high school and believe that place to be a gem. I haven't been further north than that, but I know Jay is legit as fuck because my buddy is a groomer there. I was hoping to go to Mad River for the first time this year because their tree skiing is supposed to be dope, but this season is off to an absolute dogshit start.

If you're a park skier that kinda changes everything. For example, Smuggs is fucking awesome but when I was going there in 2008 it was like they never knew terrain parks existed. And Mountain Creek is only as big as you'd expect a NJ mountain to be, but they always spent a lot of effort making their parks present. Okemo and Killington are usually very good about it as well.

TLDR, the east coast can be fucking dope. or it can be shit. but there's always beer.
 
I'm a Jay pass holder now so it obviously is getting my vote. The terrain is just that good, always something to jump off or dive into. Hopefully they get the big park set up soon, they've done a good job the past couple seasons from the pics I've seen.

Call me old school, but being able to rip some trees, groomers, and park all in one run is my preference over a dedicated park chair these days.

100%. i know it's not really feasible but in my perfect world there would just be jumps and rails strewn all over the mountain
