clapton is good for acoustic, but hendrix could make that guitar sing, which wins in my book.

^No, but apparently I know more about guitar than some people. It's not always a matter of taste. Some of the things people have posted in here are just ignorant. There's no better word for it. Had they experienced a broader range of talent, and if they understood what defines a good guitarist, they'd probably make better judgments. Cobain? Give me a fucking break. Go download Joe Pass - Blue Bossa. Nothing in that is pre-composed. It might help you understand what improvistaional solos are about. Then get Sultans of Swing by the Dire Straits (if you don't have it already, you basically have no business in this thread), and you'll get a better idea of what real style is, because I could equate a lot of people in here to random couch potatoes watchng the X games slopestyle; they know what they think looks good, but don't really know what they're talking about. calm down j.d. I was in a bad mood in the first place. i just really like john mayer. i don't follow guitar players at all, but when I saw him live and all his solos he was the best I had seen
