Best english assignment ever (Help Please!)

ok i got the nicest and easiest english teacher ever, and our first project is to do a 2 - 4 minute presentation on something you already know about, anything you want (within reason) and i chose skiing (duh) and more specifically the culture that skiing has created and why people ski, so i was looking for ideas to talk about

what i already have:

1. gapers arent what skiing truely is (by the way how do you pronunce gaper, i dont want to say it like gay-per if thats not hows it's pronounced)

2. newschool skiing

3. the backyard setup/urban

4. ski movies

5. reasons people ski (like excercise, fun, the beauty of the mountains, cause its just plain awesome...)

any other ideas would be appreciated, and what order do you think makes the most sense?

Dont talk about gapers.

Talk about the evolution of the sport. How snowboarding influenced our sport and the breakaway, the first x-games, the twin tip ski, and defining moments in our sport, as well as the early heroes.
 
ill have to look up some stuff about the first xgames, i dont know much about it other than it was called the Extreme Games originally (i think)

if your going to talk about skiing as a whole, make sure to include aspects like racing, FIS and all that, and recreational skiing. just remember that the newschool "culture" or whatever you want to call it is a pretty big minority compared to the masses (recreational and racing)
 
yeah i probobly should have made it clear that i was going to do just newschool skiin, if i did all of skiing it would take wayyyy more than the 2-4 minutes
 
long or high? i believe 20ft high? i may be wrong tho

but refering to the original post, follow rowen's advice. basically talk about the past, what skiing originally was, snowboarding comeing in, the original freestyle skiers, the twin tip, freestyle skiers since then and now. if you want to go into films start off talkin about warren miller, and go into production companies like meatheads, 4 bi 9, and so on
 
high and width, i dontthink people will care too much about the length, but i know the difference between the width and height of old halfpipes is relatively small compared to more modern ones, i just need an estimate of the two, so i can give them some idea of what theyre looking at in a picture

and yeah i think rowen had a lot of good ideas, and he was right about gapers (not mentioning it)

i might drop the movie thing, idk we'll see
