Best Colorado Ski Mtn.

My wife and I are planning on taking a trip out west this coming season to Colorado and I'm just wondering what is the best ski mountain out there, price wise and best slopes and also best park.

its a dude and his wife. everywhere will be expensive. plus, the wife will like the shopping much more there.

Copper. They have BOGO coupons and other great deals that canyou can get on ebay and such that could get you on the slopes for

Go with Vail if you have a chance, maybe Breck. Most of the summit county resorts are $80 plus for a ticket, and paying an extra $20 for Vail is more than worth it. Copper's mountain sucks, their park sucks, and you won't have fun in their town. Keystone's park is great, heard word they might be downsizing which would cut keystone out entirely, their mountain fucking is aweful, and they don't have much of a town at all. Breck's park is sick, their mountain is pretty good for summit, and their town is probably the best in summit. Vail's mountain is sick (not a lot of steeps though, but none of summit has much anyways), their park is decent at best, and their town would more than please your wife (might hurt your wallet though). Aspens pretty sick, you may also want to look into that if you can get a deal on tickets/a four pack of some sort. Your wife would love the vibe and town. Snowmass' parks are fun, and buttermilks are as well. Beaver Creek has a pretty good mountain, decent park, and decent town but will likely run you a pretty penny. Sorry for being a dick/trying to get this dude the best trip.
You might want to look into renting a place in frisco, dillon, or silverthorne. The rates for renting places are a lot lower than at a mountain, and they are approx 5-30 minutes driving time to abasin, keystone, breckenridge, copper, vail, loveland, and beaver creek so you could get a nice sampling for cheaper than staying at just one resort. Thats assuming you're flying to Denver and will be renting a car. PM me if you'd like more details.

the guy listed price as a factor, he's got a full tilt icon and funkyfresh screen name, probably not some rich old geezer who stumbled over from skiings site

I'm not gunna write a novel, but here's a summarya bay=the most chill and some steeps/cliffs(for summit county at least, not the rest of the skiing world)keystone=park and not much else, but some stuff in the outback can be fun with a little hikebreck=park and some fun other terrain (imperial lift, t-bar, 6 chair)vail=HUGE, lots of different stuff except not much steep stuff. beaver=pretty far away and lots of rich people thinkin they own the place (cuz they probably do)
cant speak to the others cuz ive got a colorado pass

telluride or crested butte. way better then the summit county mountains plus both have real nice towns

I liked Beaver Creek the most on my trip through. Good park, good freeride, good tree skiing, comparatively pretty and most importantly free cookies.

VAIL BECAUSE IF YOU GET BORED, YOUR TICKETS ARE GOOD AT BEAVER CREEK, BRECK, AND KEYSTONE... AND COPPER IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY CONSIDERING IT KINDA SUCKS

for I-70 corridor. go beaver creek. no crowds real sick freeride terrain and back country, great food, big park, then head over to vail for a day or something

Telluride is super sick and has some ridiculous backcountry. Not too much for a park though but I think you'll quickly find that's not an issue considering the rest of their terrain.
Another one to consider is Steamboat. Not too much extreme terrain, but super soft powder, frequent dumps, super chill town, nude hot springs, and the best tree skiing ON EARTH.
But bottom line, if you're gonna spend money on a vacation to CO, stay the fuck away from I-70!!

This is like asking, "What's the best cereal?". Everyone has their own opinion which is based on what type of skier they are. Take what you read with a grain of salt. I went to school at Boulder so I have skied most mountains in CO. However, I can't say which one is the best but I could tell you which one is my favorite...but I won't.

A basin will win this hands down based on the mountain and price. I ski about 30 days a year out there with a Colorado pass, and I spend over half my days at Abay even though I stay in breck. The park is awesome when the upper park is open, but sucks otherwise. All the other places are sick too. Anybody in this thread who says copper sucks simply has no idea what they are talking about. The western resorts have better steeps, but the best deals to be had would be staying in frisco and skiing copper, abay, loveland, vail, and breck from there. Hit up Johnny G's every day after the mountain in frisco for some cheap beer and food. You can find discounts in town for every place but vail. Good luck, it's sick out there and you might never come back.
