Best area to ski when there's powder

I am in Breckenridge for the first time and I'm wondering where the best place to ski when there is powder is. Doesn't necessarily need to be at Breck but the area.

Thanks for the tips in advance.

vails number 1 no question steamboat is also sick too ( a little further away ) but not as many people so it doesnt get tracked out as fast. vail though is rediculous so many fun cliffs and cornices to drop on powder days

beaver creek lacks the sheer volume of awesome, more hidden spots that vail has...everything at beave gets tracked out twice as fast just cause they have half the terrain
and when i say that, im also talking about hike-access spots, of which beave also has far fewer that are easy to get to
i prefer beave on groomer days though, it's steeper and faster and has a much better park system...so go to vail for pow and then beave when it gets sunny

word dude. ski cooper is seriously has the steepest terrain in colorado. so many pow stashes there and it always has like 4 feet of snow.

but don't tell too many people. we want to keep that shit for ourselves.

btw, the park is atleast 3 times the size of all the vail parks put together. DOPE

alright yeah obviously, but theyre FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE to get to if the skiing weather is good, plus i HAVE A JOB so it's hard to take like 4 days off when i see a storm coming just to drive to telluride ahead of it.
and to the guy who said "have fun skiing with 5,000 of your friends or whatever," well, fuck you idiot...that's actually about how many people show up here on good pow days thanks to pass closures, and it works out to less than 1 person for every skiable acre of INBOUNDS on the mountain...plus most of them stick to the frontside or go straight to fucking blue sky and shit like that, so if you know what youre doing youre gonna find bottomless all day when it dumps.
so yah, id be happy to ski vail with 5,000 people on a pow day. in fact, it happens all the time and it's wonderful. let all the proles stop at breck.

^ chill out man, we're talking about pow days... the best days of the year. Go to the area you know the best...have fun at vail... i'll be at beaver.

yah i wrote that at around 5am when i was waking up to go to work at vail, im not a morning person so i was in a shitty mood and i felt like vehemently defending the mountain i open every morning

Vail and Beaver Creek are both good. I hate the way the lifts are set up at the Beav and Vail is closer to me, so Vail wins.

damnit I wish I had read this when I was there.

I ended up going to Vail on the Saturday they got 13 inches. We found some pretty sick stuff in the trees off of blue sky basin.

Man im so unimpressed by vail. It takes at least 30 minutes to get from the front side to the backside, then you are stuck skiing a face with 300 ft of vert then a gay run out/catwalk. Everyone hates on Breck for pow but I fucking love it. Cucumber bowl, windows, lake chutes, S. Side of ten. All I need.

yep. it's like a whole other ski resort, a very gnarly one at that. have someone show you lines, and wear your avy gear. see ya up there

god i wanna ski east vail. gotta get a beacon and other avy gear and im there. next year im gonna need some tour guides haha

east vail for sure, A bay is sick too and so is the beav, but vail is where it goes down around here if you know where the goods are.
