BEST ACTOR?!

Now that the Oscars are upon us, who do you guys think is the best actor out there right now? I think that Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Matthew McConaughey, Christopher Waltz, and Leo are absolutely slaying the scene as of late. Cant pin it down to one, they're all equally as good in my book. I'm also going to throw Jack Nicholson in the hat just because he's Jack Nicholson and the best human being to ever grace planet earth. I also think that great actors/actresses are illuminated even more in today's age because they are in comparison to garbage actors (i.e. Channing Tatum, Vin Diesel, and that goon that plays Thor).

After thought: supposedly Johnny Depp and Tom Hardy are going to be the main roles in an upcoming movie about Whitey Bulger. Sounds ridiculously awesome. I think that Tom Hardy is getting close to being up there with Leo in terms of acting to be completely honest. If you've seen Bronson, Warrior, and The Dark Knight Rises, then you know what I'm talking about.

i came in here expecting to tell you to shut the fuck up but im not going to. gonna throw ryan gosling into the mix too. definitely agree tom hardy's underrated. he gets cast in meat-head roles cos he's a tank, but he has a lot of talent. michael fassbender should be up there too

Clive owen, Johnny depp(blow, public enemies), kevin spacey(american beauty etc), leonardo dicaprio in the aviator especially. Tom hanks is solid in just about everything. That's all that really pops off the top of my head, a lot of "smaller" actors are escaping me ,other than philip hoffman, though that's likely just in my head because of his recent death... or because I was watching Charlie Wilsons war last night.

and of course... big ang

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat fuck nooo. he was such a good actor. have you seen the master? he fucking KILLED it in that

That was my point, I enjoyed him in a ton of films, but he was never really the leading role from what I recall.

And nope haven't seen it, unfortunately can't download films for the foreseeable future, can't even watching fucking youtube videos which sucks.

my god man, i am so sorry. stay strong brother, you'll make it through.

i just watched the scene from charlie wilson where hoffman smashes the guys window. so fucking good haha

"I've spent the past three years learning Finnish! Which should come in handy here in Virginia"

Michael Fassbender -Band of Brothers, 300, Prometheus, Inglorious Basterds, X Men, Centurion, 12 Years a Slave (I think), Shame (haven't seen but heard it was good)

I think he has the most talent as of right now.

I'm also super stoked that Christoph Waltz might be the new Pirates of the Caribbean bad guy!

Some of you might laugh at this , but Kim kardashian has been on the rise for a while now and her acting is better then ever

Tom Hanks should've been nominated for Captain Philips, but I'm guessing McConaghey for dallas buyers club will win.

Not sure how I feel about the awards last night. McConaughey has definitely broken out of his shell this year and I think it was well deserved, but I also think that Leo has been getting fucked at the Oscars for way too long and is owed one. His Wolf performance was pretty fucking good.

Leo wasn't even in the running. If it hadn't been MM, it would've been Chiwetel Ejiofor. The others were also-rans.

pretty funny nic-caging computers of people with little-to-no knowledge about them. Poor grandma.

I feel like McConaughey's movie being about the fight against AIDS and Leo's movie being about doing drugs off of hookers asses might have weighed into the minds of the voters as well..

The master was such an under appreciated film. Joaquin Phoenix was especially riveting. THought the film is definitely not for everyone. Most of my friends hated it.

The lincoln Lawyer was when matthew mcconaughey broke out of his shell. Watch that movie, Dallas Buyers Club and Mud. Not many people have mentioned Mud.

Also I can’t wait for him in Interstellar. Christopher Nolan is such a great director.

yeah man, the oscars is all politics. 12 years a slave and dallas buyers club had the advantage purely because of their subject matter

also the fact that one of the best films of the year (Blue Is the Warmest Colour) didn't even get a nomination, almost certainly because of the extremely explicit sex scenes, shows they're not entirely concerned about which is the best film overall. not trying to belittle the films that did win awards, im just saying the judges don't base their decisions purely on technical merit

lol did it to my friend one day and he took his computer down to the tech office because he legitimately thought he had a virus

Years before this was true, but the Academy has gotten a lot better. And some people confuse Blue is the Warmest Color for a truly great film just because it took risks with it's sex scenes. That doesn't warrant being a good film. And seeing as how it was a small distribution they most likely didn't lobby that much. And yes lobbying is a part of it, just how it is.

Either way, Gravity's haul of awards do prove that technical merit is rewarded.

umm have you seen it? not gonna start an argument but the sex scenes are pretty low on the bill when you're looking at the good things about it...
