Bending poles

Hi NS.

I fell on my pole the other day. Unsurprisingly it bent. A lot. Now the pole has an angle of about 30 degrees but luckily the tube hasn't been crushed too much, it's still rather round.

I'm going to try bending it back. I have a heat gun, should I use that to heat the bent part before bending? The poles are aluminum.

Just try and bend it back slightly and just deal with it being a lil bent. Mostly all the time poles snap went you drive and bend them back.

You will never get it back perfect, do it gradually to reduce it snapping and get it best you, there will always be a small kink in it but shouldn't affect it too much

i would heat it for sure, i think i've heard of people taking the grip off and filling it with sand, that might work, but heat is good

Any time mine bend i go into the lodge and run the bent part under hot water for a few minutes and it bends back pretty easily. Be careful though, if you feel it not wanting to go don't force it or it will snap.

Take off the grip and fill the pole with sand before you try bending it. Its tendency to crease while being bent back will be drastically reduced.

go to a good will and buy a pair of poles from the 70s there durabull as shit, and if u cut them down there super light, just get some cooler looking grips and spray paint them, as good as new!

Might as well try to fix this pole first. Since the pole is unusable now, I have nothing to lose and everything to gain by trying to bend it back.

just bend it on your knee. it's not a big deal. if it breaks, you either did it wrong or your poles are shit

same thing happened to me today, and i just got the ski poles yesterday, except it snapped in half right after two people tried fixing it.

just buy the cheapest poles you can fin, and when they bend, just bend them back in between two solid things, like the back of a chairlift or something. or the ski racks by the lodge. your poles will never be straight though

if anyone is interested in buying new poles that arent gonna break or bend, look into scott poles. i've been using my old race ones after cutting them down three seasons ago, and they havent bent yet. and ive taken some super hard falls on them

I bent them back with the aid of the heat gun. They're straight now. Thanks for the help everyone! Also +K.
