Looking at a pair of pivots with 75mm breaks, could I bend these to get them around my Vishnu wides at 106 underfoot? 30mm too much?

30mm is a bit of a stretch.

What makes you think it’s a stretch? Just wondering... I figured 1.5 cm on each side.... not tooooo bad

It was mainly a play on words. Folks used to bend out narrow pivot brakes all the time before they even make wide ones for fat skis 15-20 years ago. I think it's doable but not worth the hassle for that big of a difference. If you're good with metal and a torch you could do a good job but it's not a little tweak, you're going to have to make a new bend 15mm further out the brake arm.

Ah haha. Hey thank you, yes I think it might be a hassle if I would have to completely remake a new bend

Here's how you do it. Mount the binding with the brake up on the ski. Then get a broken pole or a pipe of about the same diameter and put it around one of the brakes and bend it so it's straight out to the side. Then get a big screwdriver and put it in the corner between the brake and the edge of the ski and use the pole to bend it around the screwdriver to 90 degree angle. Do that on all 4 brakes and you'll be good to go.

Gosh I’m torn.... I might get em and try this, seems pretty fool proof

will you save a lot of money doing this?

it's possible but def in the range where it's kind of a pain. i have a pair of 75 brakes on 96 waist skis and they work fine but to do another 10mm means having to do a good job of it

I could possible get a pair or barely used pivots for $80 if I was lucky

that'd be awesome. well i say you can do it if you do it well, idk how experienced you are but if it were me, i'd get my most experienced ski gear friend and the right tools and probably, as the other guy said, try to do it right and actually create a new bend

yeah i can snap them tonight when i get home. you'll see it wasn't a professionally done job lol it was me and a buddy and beer but it might give you an idea of what you'll be working with and help you decide if you think it'll work

Just make sure you do it before they are mounted, use your thumbs and post a video doing it

More of a chance of you fucking up some of the plastic plate that holds the binding with grooves. Definitely remove breaks from binding if they are new.

i've bent 75mm brakes to fit my 110mm skis. just have to take the heel piece apart to make it a bit easier. be careful with the old brakes cause i've heard they're pretty easy to snap.

So here they are. As you can see, the “left” one was done better than the “right” one. They both work fine but they do rub against the edge of the ski. But you could and should do a much better job of it, and commit to making a new bend more than I did on these; I half assed mine cause I wasn’t too worried about it

Hope this helps you decide. let me know if you want different/better pics

sick dude really doesnt look too bad, thanks though
