Looking at a pair of pivots with 75mm breaks, could I bend these to get them around my Vishnu wides at 106 underfoot? 30mm too much?

30mm is a bit of a stretch.

14095221:mystery3 said:It was mainly a play on words. Folks used to bend out narrow pivot brakes all the time before they even make wide ones for fat skis 15-20 years ago. I think it's doable but not worth the hassle for that big of a difference. If you're good with metal and a torch you could do a good job but it's not a little tweak, you're going to have to make a new bend 15mm further out the brake arm.

Then get a broken pole or a pipe of about the same diameter and put it around one of the brakes and bend it so it's straight out to the side. Then get a big screwdriver and put it in the corner between the brake and the edge of the ski and use the pole to bend it around the screwdriver to 90 degree angle. Do that on all 4 brakes and you'll be good to go.

it's possible but def in the range where it's kind of a pain. i have a pair of 75 brakes on 96 waist skis and they work fine but to do another 10mm means having to do a good job of it

So here they are. As you can see, the “left” one was done better than the “right” one. They both work fine but they do rub against the edge of the ski. But you could and should do a much better job of it, and commit to making a new bend more than I did on these; I half assed mine cause I wasn’t too worried about it
Hope this helps you decide. let me know if you want different/better pics
