Bending 100mm brakes for a 112mm ski?

I am getting a powder ski which should be arriving any day. I plan on purchasing bindings that come with a pair of 100 mm brakes. I have heard that it is nothing to bend them that far, and I have heard from others that they will probably brake and I really would like to avoid that. What do you think my best option would be?

Do you realize how short 12mm is? you'll just have to bend them to an angle, you'll be fine.

12mm is like.... |..| its barely anything, just heat the joint up with a torch/lighter and give em a little bend.

Any other advice on HOW to bend the brakes. I have seen quite a few threads about kids who have problems with brakes that they bend sticking out too far and catching when landing switch. How can I prevent that? Thanks for any info that you have...

bend them straight out, then put something between the sidewall/edge of your skis (ive used a folded paper plate in the past), and bend the brake down. itll curve around the sidewall of the ski and bend rather nicely.

hope that makes sense.

That is the best advice i've gotten for bending brakes, thank you. Do you know what the chance is of Rossignol 100 mm brakes have of breaking. Should I heat the bar or anything? thanks

ive only bent fks brakes in the past, which as far as i can tell are probably the most easily-broken brakes going, not to mention theyre really only able to fit a ~70mm waisted ski unbent.

ive had no problems bending them to 100mm without heating up.

also, a 100mm brake is obviously going to require much less force to bend the small amount to 112mm than a 70mm brake to 100, so youre not gonna have to rip on it as hard.

100mm brakes are also probably closer to 102-105mm, so its just gonna be that much less to bend.

good luck with the process, you shouldnt have any problems.
