Bend

I just got off the phone with a potential employer in Bend. From what I hear, it sounds like Bend kicks ass. They mentioned the cost of living is quite high, can someone please tell me what I can reasonably expect to pay for a nice, centrally-located, dog-friendly 2 bedroom apartment? I'm guessing it's lower than NYC.

Also, how far is Mt. Bachelor, is it busy there on the weekends, and what are their hours? (their site is down)

Thanks!

bachelor is about a half hour from bend and can get kinda crowded on the weekends, especially holidays. they are replacing the pine martin lift this summer which runs right out of the main base and that should speed things up a bit. most of the time though the tourists on the weekends stay on pine martin so the outback and northwest lifts are usually pretty empty, they also have the best tree skiing and challenging terrain. parks wise, the main park is on skyliner and the slopestyle park is on pine martin. both are pretty damn nice once the middle/end of december rolls around.

pretty sure their hours are 9-4 during the week and 8 or 8:30-4 on the weekends.

no idea on housing besides the fact that it is cheaper than manhattan

its an excellent spot. the drive to bachy is about 35 minutes and is a good mt. Housing i couldnt tell you, but its get cheaper if youre willing to live on the outer part of the city

OK, here is another rumor I need you guys to clear up:

I hear Mt. Bachelor is pretty flat. But I thought they had a nice bowl on one of the faces... and the photos of the mountain look pretty decent. Do any of you know approximate pitches for some runs on the mountain?

Also, some of the backcountry looks pretty sweet around there.

its pretty flat for the most part... theres the cirque bowl which ur refering 2... theres some stuff on the backside... and maybe some steep parts on northwest... parks r fun tho... pipe is never cut... but its chill and theres like 10 freeskiers in all

the south side and northwest lift have some really nice bowls and good overall terrain, only the front side of bachelor is flat

rent is fucking too expensive god damn it hate that shyt fuck billls arggggggggg bend is too expensive for me god damn jobs fuck that shit im livin on cardboard box's

rent for my 2-bedroom apartment on the westside is $585, not too bad, availability is pretty low in bend so put in you applications quick, good luck

I just got the job offer, so it looks like I may be headed back out west! If I live in Bend, where should I get a season pass? Mt. Bachelor seems obvious, any suggestions?

bend is super dope. rent for a two bedroom will run you around 600-800 a month. go westside and be happy, go eastside and be bummed. don't bring your lame boyfriend with you. he'll end up loving our micro brews along with his regular 40 of PBR, thing he is the shit at snowboarding, and well, just leave your NY boyfriends at home.

^ the fiance came with me...

and the other day we saw a blue-green truck with rage films stickers all over the back... was it you? if so, we were driving out of the best buy parking lot behind you the other day.
