Beginners Guide to Photography

Seeing as I'm a complete beginner to photography I've been trying to find good articles/guides online to help my understanding. I searchbar'd but didn't find anything so thought be cool to have a thread with a bunch of tips for beginners.
A technical look into different aspects of taking pictures: http://www.berniecode.com/writing/photography/beginners/
A technical look into depth of field: http://www.berniecode.com/writing/photography/depth-of-field/
Rule of Thirds: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thirds

Please add any articles/whatever that helped you out when you were starting.

These are really good, however, Im currently looking for some sort of guide or what not that is more focused on photography in snowy conditions, and/or action sports photography.

This winter I will be taking my moms old D70 camera out with me for the first time, not only with that particular camera, but with photography in itself. Seeing as I dont have any experience whatsoever, any and all tips are more than welcome!

its tuff to say what to learn first. definitely read the articles on depth of field and shutter speed but mostly just take ALOT of pictures and always use the manual setting. it might be easier to take decent pictures with the auto setting but if you wanna learn use manual

Read Dan Carr's blog. Weath of information and you can even ask him any questions and he is usually quick with an answer and is a pretty cool guy in general

Always keep in mind a famous quote

Your first 10,000 images are your worst.

to truly get an amazing picture that will stand out by its self and surpass the effects your friends are achieving is to do your homework, find websites with updated info and gear. find books on specif topics you are interested in, and dont stop at your first answer.
go in depth with everything you do and learn about.
There is a lot to photography because its about the art of capturing light.
Good luck to everyone, and check out this website for further beginning help.

No worries bud. Keep that shutter goin

And the quote isnt rude, its true eh.no wy someone can take a pic within their first 10,000 and make it truely better the one taken afterwords when they actually understand stuff that happens within the body and lens
