last night a buddy of mine were argueing one of the finer issues of the great game. my side was thart you should play with space between the cups, he said all the cups should be touching.

i think it makes a better game to have seperation of the cups ( i'm not talking huge space normally we measure two fingers apart) the ball can land between the cups, there are less "lucky" shots and it makes it more of a skill game.

he said they should be touching games go faster and more people get to play. and when you get down to 1 o2 cups it is about the same.

what do you all think.

another deabate should you rearaagne the cups as the game goes on (consolidation) or just pull the hit cups and leave the remainig ones in what ever configuration they happen to be in?
 
deffinately touching, as for the consoildation i usually play one time whenever you want with 6-cup and 2 times with 10-cup... also beerpong? I believe you mean beirut
 
actually no i maen beerpong. where i come fron it is the same thing.

really you all play touching? i just think that is gay i know the point is to get hammered but i still like to see a little more skill invovled. it was a big thing at my frat house. we even used to put on a huge beer pong tourny for our philantropy. i prided myself on my beer pong skills in college.

well if you play touching why do you think it is better then seperated?
 
while it is a skill shot game i think it should also cycle pretty quickly... personally if i hit another cup than the one i am aiming at i get a little upset, but the game continues... the real challange comes in the last few shots, i have played separated before and it just took too long, especially if people are waiting to play... i think either way the better team will typically come out on top. just the margin will be greater if they are separeted... i guess if its just 2 teams, no one waiting separated would be legit but we gotta think of the people man, others must get drunk as well
 
Playing beerpong without the cups touching is by far one of the most stupid arguments about this game i have ever heard. CUPS ARE ALWAYS TOUCHING. You sir are arguing a dumb fucking point.
 
touching. it's just how the game is played. why are there only 3 bases in baseball? 7 would be more fun.
 
yeah, touching....the main objective of the game is still to get drunk... and the best way to do that is to chug as many cups of beer as possible in the shortest period of time..this is most easily achieved when the cups are touching. Also, I play with no rearranging, just leave the cups as they are.
 
but beer pong is not baseball. it is more liek monopoly or asshole where everybody has thier own house rules.
 
well lets see, we would charge 40 dollars a team. we would normally get in the neighbor hood of 60 (teams everytime we ran it) take out our cost (beer cups ice so on) then the remainign money would get psplit half to the winnig team and half to our house charity (american cancer society) that sir is how a beer pong tourniment becomes a philanthropy event.
 
I think here in New England, people call it Beirut and everywhere else its beer pong...anyways, def touching, and in 10-cup we get 2 re-racks per game
 
I live in New England and everyone I know calls it beer pong...but yeah I agree, 10 cup it's 2 re-racks and 6 cup it's 1

Touching fo sho. Spread out or not, I nearly always hit the cup I aim for. Good players should always be picking a cup and hitting it - first cup, last cup, every cup.
 
when we play we touch them and allow only ONE rearrangement called by the opposing team on one of their turns
 
definitely touching, ive never even heard of that spaced out bullshit. its not supposed to be a game of skill its a game to get drunk
 
i believe that they should be touching and that is how ive always played...as for moving the cups you get 2 re-racks and a gentlemens...first re-rack can be at 6 cups then another rerack anytime after that is either dick (straight) or diamond at 4 cups left...then when you get to 2 cups u get a gentlemens and you can line the two cups up straight together...Those be the rules fooz
 
ok here is how we played in our weekly tournament at college.

cups always touching

reracks are done at 6 and 3 and must be asked for at the beginning of teams turn and if its 5 or 2 cups and rerack was not called at 6 or 3 you cannot rerack

blowing into cups is not allowed. females blowing the opposing team is allowed and encouraged

no hands over cups until ball hits table

male nudity is not allowed for taunting only for shut out naked run when females are in attendance

female nudity is always allowed and encouraged at every instance

the list went on and on but i thikn that covers the important parts
 
touching, if u r playing 6 cup, u get 1 rerack, if u play 10 cup u get 2 reracks, 36 cup 3 reracks, island for 2 cups (odd cup) gentleman's shot for 2 cups
 
Definately touching... especially if you're playing at a party, the point of the game isn't to find who has the most skill, it's to get alot of people drunk really fast, and if you're at a party people don't want to wait around for 30 minutes for you to finish your beer pong game.
