Becoming an instructor

You have to take a course. It doesn't take too long to get your Level 1 instructors. It's not too hard either, just learn how to snowplow all over again.

at a lot of mountains all you have to do is apply for the job then they will train you before you start working for them

hmmm...ive worked as an instructor for 2 years and in still not certified. i guess i should do that this year. goin for the level 1 freeski coach and the level 2 instructor

An indictment is not a conviction!

Patrolling is where it's at. Ski the whole time on your own, whenever you want...all the proforms you want. Pretty much half off any resort ticket across the country. Sweet deal, plus you can save your friends ass when decides to only get 3/4 the way around on a back flip. It's fun.

im going for my level 1 instructor coarse after skiing for 2 years.... should be nice and boring

'pro - peagna? What the fuck is that?' - my friend looking at my Propaganda DVD (he's not to bright)

'nah im still going to ski, im just going to board when im... bored...' darryl hunt

I wanna be a patroller. What does it require??

yeah Ive been a instructor for a year now and its the so easy. I get paid to teach little kids for like and hour or so. I just take them powder skiing and into the park and teach them all the sweet things. So basicly im getting paid to ski and show kids around for 3 hours every weekend. Just aski your local club what you need to start teaching and they will sign you up, Im going to get my level 1 this spring up in Vermont too.

Patrollers and instructors, are 2 totally diffrent things,

partrollers are cool as long as there not dicks, about anything, skiing releated,

instructors, are tools, but if you get your certifacation for freeski l 1 at least you wouldn;t bbe a complete fag

i took my level 1 last season, it took 2 full weekends, its hella easy, but its so incredibly boring, everymorning there were classroom sessions and then the afternoon was 3 1/2 hours of learning to snowplow down the rope-tow hill, i was pretty stupid cause i took the course when there was a comp happening in the park and thats all i could think of. less than half of my class passed tho, b4 you do it be sure you can pass cause if u dont, u have to pay to take the whole course over again, and it its expensive

just talk to someone at your local mountain about how to work for them and then move up from there...level 1 instructing is better to get first and then level 1 freeski. That's the easiest and probably best way to go...

Never once should you second-guess the power of a woman on skis...in more ways than one.

at kimberley we get pro deals lik eeverywhere, even in kimberley, but i want to patrol this year cause instructing licks ass unless u get to teach the eurpoean vacationing families 18 year old daughter. Or cougars, they're everywhere and some are soooo hot. Ohh yeah. U know what i mean.

I got my badge last winter.

level one freeski is basically a course designed to be able to teach kids how to do jumps in the park (no inverts). Kinda like a coach for a freestyle team but a paid instructor

Dude, i can't remember what this thread is about........ shit i'm tired.... oh yeah, I instruct, it isn't that bad, a free lift pass is prett pimp shiz, I think it owuld be the best to instruct @ Whistler cause they treat their employees really well

-If people don't want 'Posers' in their sport they should quit skiing and take up knitting. I highly doubt that anyone 'Poses' as a knitter. -Jibtech

k thanks heaps, is mike dempsie's thing in whistler any good, says i could work that after 7 week course.

Learning to be a ski instructor helps your skiing heaps too. All that time in a wedge and learning to do a perfict paralell demo etc is usefull in the end - just shitty when your doing it - it will help your balance and you will also get rid of a lot of bad habits that may be holding back your top end skiing. also, go to new zealand and do it.

If anyone on here is looking to patrol, you should go to your local hill and ask about it. It basically takes:

16 week Emergency Outdoor Care class

10 week On the Hill ski training

1 weekend every year to refresh.

It is a committment your first year, but after that it is a lot less work. True, there are some patrollers that are 'dicks', so that is why more of us need to do it. Plus, your skiing will improve dramatically. Once you are done you will be able to ski anything...and I mean anything.

go to www.nsp.org if you want to learn more about it.

Probably no cash for volunteering. You apply then they train you. Then you teach little shits (that spill hot choclate on you) how to wedge for two years. Get level 1 so you can escape. I get paid 10 an hour. This year I started a freestyle program at my mountain. Its fucking awesome. 9 year old kids throwing down switch unnautral 180's and 3's.
