Becoming a resident of a new state

So I am applying to UVM this fall. I currently live in MA but my family owns property in VT. Does anybody know how long I would have to actually live in Vermont to be able to go to UVM as an in-state student?

i like your signature.

welcome to my state.

get an email adress if you cant find the answer on the uvm site.

i think it took 1 full year after i moved to montana before i was considered an actual resident. i got my in state drivers lisence after 6 months, but like to get in state tuition, i think you have to wait a year.

how about for canada? it's so cheap to go to school as a Canadian in Canada, how long would it take to gain residency there as an American?

i know someone who has been living here for a few months, and had no address anywhere else, but VT, and it took a lot of phone calls to get them to realize that she was living in Vermont. It will take a while, maybe even longer if your mailing address isn't to the vermont address.

i think you have to be living there awhile because they don't want people moving to other states last minute to get in-state tuition. i don't know exactly how long though.
