Beat I made

sorry for sounding harsh but i think that halleluea sample is pretty girly, and on top of that it just sounds like a few bars of a garage band kit on repeat. try finding different drums and adding more layers. listen to any beat and listen closely to how many layers of instruments/sounds there are

thanks for the honosty, when you mean layer, do you mean like high med low etc. or a for example tamborine on top of a snare?

sounds very dry and like what was said already, very "garage band drum kit." by layering he means add some other "voices" in the mix. not like singing voices, but different instruments, maybe a bass line and harmony or supplemental melody line. also maybe even another drum track that could be identical to the one you have but with a different tone or sound to it. this is why you never hear many bands without a bass or guitar. because most of the time its just "dry" sounding. (although there are some exceptions) hope this helps. and the beat was cool

More interesting, but the beat doesn't progress anywhere. Let the beat build bitch! Or at least change it up as the song progresses. It's the same thing for 3 minutes and it's boring by 40 seconds.

I know little to nothing about putting together beats and ish but I think its pretty tight!

You should keep it up and throw together some other stuff!

Pretty solid man, I liked that.

A few thoughts on that latest one:

Try boosting your kick at about 100 Hz, its a little weak.

Also, all your levels are a bit low - like, I play a song in itunes and then I put yours on. Its the same volume on my computer but waayyyy quieter.

Try using a combination of compression, limiters, and a maximizer. Get all your levels really low then boost the fuck out of them.

Dada Life's sausage fattener is good for this kind of stuff, and stupidly easy. Its all over torrent sites too.

I think the song could really benefit from some material to fill it in - ie, chords, some more bassy sounds.

I like to think of producing beats like working with a band - you need to orchestrate your parts so that they fit together, complement each other, and fill in the frequency spectrum (don't get too caught up in that last part but if you want to have a dope chorus it needs to sound really full generally).

dude. yes. I didnt realize fruity loops preset all the channels to like 70% volume lol!!! thanks for the advice though

heres a short little beat I made recently

That Trailer Park Boys intro song remix is a good start for sure.

Try messing around with the piano samples, alternating the beat a little after a few bars... It'll sound more catchy because it won't be the same beat over and over. After about 4 bars you could incorporate another sample on another layer or something like that.

Keep it up and be patient with it. Great songs take time.

damn, looking back and reading these gets me so stoked, I use a maschine now heres my recent song. I added vocals to the beat. Any and all feedback is much appreciated
