Hey I am trying to gather information for my capstone, and would love to get some numbers from you guys. Not trying to argue either way, but Ill give karma to all that respond.. if thats still a thing?

The only time I don't is if it is gaper day or something and it's a sin to wear a helmet on gaper day

Done.

Wearing a helmet has just become so regular for me that I don't feel right if I'm not wearing it. *But* I never ever wear a helmet when I'm skiing my backyard set up

I figured I would add that although I do always wear a helmet there are occasionally spring days were just a snapback is perfect for really chill laps.

wow, those poll results are amazing. even 10 years ago itd look waaaay different

who knows how the self-selection went but still...

Nerve ever for a long time but nobody wore helmets then. Only if you raced or something.

The last 9ish years pretty much always. And recently always. Only took a couple laps without one if I was working and didn't have it with me or when I was wearing this sweet chicken costume.

Brain injuries suck bad. It's been over 2 months since my last one and I'm still super fucked up.

Done. Only day I haven't worn a helmet in the past few years would be gaper day. That is the only acceptable day.

Too many backflips on gaper day to not wear a helmet.

Also took the poll.

Do:

When skiing jumps or a big park

When skiing pow/crud, last thing I need is my brain all over a tree

When doing comps (especially rail jams)

Don't:

Skiing rope tow rail park

When super hungover

I usually don't unless I'm throwin down or it's icy or something. I probably should wear it all the time but oh well.

Always because I am a good boy and my mommy says I have to. I took the poll.

It's awesome that kids are learning to ski with helmets these days. I hope that there isn't a widespread helmet law ever but would love to see like 75% or more of the people rocking them.

You don't even have to be doing anything spectacular to get hurt. Just hit one weird rut on a trail or get sent weird in some spring snow and get fucked.

I feel like if you start as a kid you're golden. Some people just can't get used to wearing it. If you've always ridden with one there's no reason to stop.

I would like to have a cool dream like this though

My helmet saved my life.

Helmet saved mine also, always wear it.

Only even not worn one for one run my whole life and that is because I had an old helmet with a buckle that didn't stay done up and I fell on a little jump at the bottom of a run and didnt notice my helmet came off until I was on the chair

didn't wear one as a kid, don't wear one now unless its required at a comp or for entrance to a park. i've skiied hundreds of days without a helmet and never hit my head. I skied with a helmet for a couple weeks, got overconfident trying shit I probably shouldn't have been doing, and got a concussion. That being said I'll throw one on if i'm trying some new shit but very rarely

obviously it can't hurt to wear one, and they are effective against skull fractures, but studies show that helmets do little to prevent concussions, which are the real source of damage in most cases. wearing a shell around your head does little to nothing to prevent the g forces of whiplash from smacking your brain against your skull when you crash. although people are working on better helmets that will help with concussions. as soon as that shit comes out and significantly reduces concussion risk, i'll wear one. until then i live on the edge yolo mother fuckers fuckabitch rawdog no rubba

I pretty much always do, unless Im skiing low angle pow in the backcountry and its not worth it to be bothered with strapping a helmet to my pack. Any time im in the resort or skiing something bigger in the backcountry, I always wear a helmet. Shit happens, and it only takes one hard hit to fuck you up permanently.

Most helmets have empty space where you can crack through in a fall and really soften the blow in addition to the foam.

Shit definitely helps. I've broken a helmet where I could have easily pulled it apart into 2 pieces it was so fucked. That wasn't even on a rail or tree or anything. Landing of a booter.

I'm always hoping for new advancements in helmet technology but that doesn't mean I'm not going to wear one because they aren't perfect now lol.

This or just hair flowing with goggles over top.

Only time I don't wear a helmet is in the spring slush when I know I'm just gonna be cruising and hitting side booters.

i had a long ice hockey career and my concussions are in the double digits. i was told 3 head injuries ago that i would be mentally disabled if i got another one. some might argue that i am but really im not yet but i do see any reason to NOT wear a helmet... im over 25 years old, im not a young dude anymore. leave the steez to the young-ins
