Canada as a nanny state - we actually have much less regulation in Canada than you do in the US. We also have laxer criminal laws,and less poverty. freedoms of speech and assembly are equal to or greater than that of the US (unless you want to talk about Quebec .. they are french, what can I say).

Why are you blaming America for the crimes of a few fucked up individuals? We should be investing more time and money into mental health screening and treatment. Criminals are going to get firearms no matter how much gun control there is.

I support gun control, and I don't own any guns, but let's not go overboard here. It's not the government's fault or gun lobbyists' fault that (usually) mentally ill people are committing these mass slayings. It's their own fault, which is why we need to get to the root of the problem and focus on what causes the rampages, not the manner in which they are carried out. I can think of dozens of weapons I could murder people with, guns being only one of them. We need to prevent people from wanting to kill in the first place due to workplace stress, mental illness, bullying, etc. Investigate and treat the root causes, nomsayin?

And for the people bitching about America, it's far from a perfect country, but you could have it sooooo much worse. Stop bitching senselessly about America when you've never contributed a fucking single solution to any of the problems you constantly like to complain about. If you don't like something, actually try to change it, don't just talk about it on the Internet. Social media crusaders are the reason we can no longer have effective protest and movement for change in this country, because you get all fired up over a cause, then give up and think you've done enough as soon as you hit "share".
 
There a few places I can think of that I'd consider equally as good, but I agree with you. There's nowhere else in the world that I'm dying to leave the U.S. to live in.

I swear, every gun thread someone pulls the "automatic weapons can be bought without a background check" argument out of their ass. It appalls me at how many people actually think that's true. The average gun owning citizen can not obtain an automatic weapon unless they go through extensive training, background checks, and are authorized by their local sheriff to own one. This whole process is very expensive. On top of that the weapons themselves cost from in the 10s to 100 thousands and they can only be fired on ranges that allow automatic fire. The only way to get an automatic weapon and bypassing the above process is to have access through the "black market" and thus criminal. Private dealers can not sell automatic weapons legally either.
 
No, you actually can't have the same rights if you are gay. If you are gay in most states you can't get on your husbands or wifes insurance policy through work. There was also a case in Georgia where a state trooper was killed and his "boyfriend" couldn't claim the benefits because they were not legally married even though they lived together for over 10 years, it's not just a title.
 
So there's 2 points I want to make here. When a country overruns a nation usually it just kills everyone and calls it good without giving them any assistance. Also if we gave them the shittiest land isnt that providing an incentive to get off the land and live somewhere nice?

1- Fox News is banned

2- religious symbols are banned

Both of which are wrong. Completely wrong.

The rest of what you've said is fluff with the the insinuation that Canada is an oppressive state that shits on human rights. Which is hilarious considering Canada is one of the best countries in the world for human rights, definitely outranking the good ol' USA.
 
Just purely out of interest, could I buy an AR15 or similar semi auto assault rifle and what is the largest clip i could purchase? What kind of back ground check would be required and how long would I have to wait???? actually interested on this.
 
They sell 100 round AR-15 drum magazines at my local gun shop. I don't know if it's the largest, but it's probably up there. You don't need any kind of background check to buy magazines.

seeing as you're from Canada, you'll never get one. AR15's are banned by name.

Also all magazines for semi-auto rifles need to be pinned off at 5. The exceptions being some rifles that use hand gun magazines which have a limit of 10 and rim fire rifles which have no limit.
 
For the US, going by Minnesota laws, you have to have a permit to purchase first where you fill out an application and submit it to your sheriff's department while paying a fee. Once that is cleared you may purchase an AR15 and under go a full background check and walk out of the store with it. Clip size varies by state I believe, Minnesota allows high capacity magazines.

Religious symbols have not ever been banned in Canada. In Quebec there is a motion to not allow public servants from wearing large religious symbols at work. It hasn't passed, and if it does will get overturned right away. Either through court rulings or as soon as their retarded premier is kicked out of office at the next election.
