I live in grass valley which is in between truckee and sacramento. Is their any well known bc areas along highway 80? I am trying to scope out some areas for the winter, because Ive never done and BC arround here. And it is easier to find good terrain when there is no snow.

I NEED SNOW UNDER MY FEET AND NOW!
 
Go up on donner pass and look out over the lake to where the train tunnels are. More BC than you can shake a stick at, and most of it can be accessed on old highway 40. That'd be my best bet.

directly off highway 80 just after you pass boreal look to your immidiate right. like, a few hundred feet from the freeway. theres all kinds of cliffs and whatnot. the near verticle line that tom burt does in TB7 (i think it was 7) is right there, along with the I-80 cliff that has been featured in many a film.

There is a big steep hill/cliff on the right side of 80 when going up the hill from truckee. I was driving by and saw houses on the top so I drove up there, and that is deffinetly some thing I am going to hit up. I a friend and I wana hike castle peak, but dont want to do it with only two people and finding peopke that dedicated to hike that far is hard to come by. we failed to do it last year, but this year I will not let that happen.
