Bass-heads of NS (subwoofer help)

What all would I need for a complete setup?

I know nothing about subs or how to hook them up, but I'm eventually going to get 2 10s

Make sure you have decent speakers first. Nothing worse than shitty speakers and rattling bass.

If you have good speakers just go with a 10" and a 1000 Watt amp.

You really don't need anymore than that to get good quality audio.

All you need is the subs, box, amp, and a wiring kit. But if you have a stock stereo you might need a new one that has RCA inputs. If you don't want to buy a new stereo you can get a line out converter which is 10 bucks but I wouldn't really recommend using a line out converter it's better to get a after market head unit

New head unit is pretty key. You can get nicely featured units for fairly cheap now. USB/AUX in, multiple sets of RCA's, etc...

What kind of car do you have? Is their already a nice audio package? If not, save the money from sub and get that upgraded first. Your sub shouldn't overpower your speakers, but compliment them, filling in the lows they can't reach.

Don't bother then, shitty equipment=shitty sound a decent amp alone will run you 300 unless you get it all used from Craigslist or something

Its not entirely impossible.

Im running an Alpine E-10 with an Xplod 750 Watt amp and Kenwood head unit (can't remember wattage..)

It is by no means high end equipment, could use an extra 250W in the amp, but whatever, I had great speakers in the car already, so I just needed a little supplement.

Spent around $400 on everything, but the head unit was the only thing I bought new.

I just can't stress enough the importance of good speakers as a foundation.
