Baselayers and Jackets

Anyone get recommendations on some good baselayers? I find that a lot of the time I pile on too many shirts and Longsleeves that it gets bulky and impedes flexibility. I'm usually in the tow park so I'm constantly shedding layers and putting them back on when I do take some full runs. My mind immediately goes to under armor because that's what I used a lot back in highschool for sports but if there are any smaller ski brands that have some quality gear that have good stuff i'd rather put my money on that.

Also due for a new Jacket, been eyeing Planks for a bit but could use some other recommendations there too.

The Trew Lightweight Chill Top & Merino bottoms are far and away the best base layers I've ever used, and I've been able to use a good number of them. Super odor resistant like regular merino, but with better breathability, stretch, and durability (put around 200 days on them now, with zero holes. That's really rare in my experience when it comes to merino).

For a cheaper option, I like Patagonia's midweight Capilene series.

Ice breaker is by far the best I have used. They are pricey but last forever. I have tried a lot of different brands and always come back to ice breaker.

I started using insulated outer layers for mid winter and avoid using heavy base layers unless it is really cold. I really like the columbia bugaboo pants for cold days. If you can get access to the employee store they are only $60.

This is what I use:

Top: Icebreaker base+thick fleece sweater+puffy+thick cotton flannel+armada shell

Bottom: Icebreaker base+thick fleece pants+shitty burton shells

Movement is a little restricted, but this is only what I wear on the coldest days (-20C). Most days I ditch the puffy and fleece pants.

I have these thin baselayers from my Army days we nicknamed the 'ninja suit'. The brand is Polartec. For how thin the material is I'm surprised at how warm they keep me. I dont wear the pants layer unless its below 0. I have a thicker undergarment i think is more of a mid layer. I rarely wear it though because its too hot to ski in. I bought it for hunting, I forget the brand name and cant dig it out right now as Im in the middle of packing to move. It has Merino wool in the material blend.

If you’re looking at Planks jackets, I have the anorak style one from last year and for the price it’s really good. Its surprisingly warm when it’s really cold (thermal + T-shirt + jacket was fine) and obviously is ideal for spring shreds. Plus the colours are dope this year imo
