Base structure, should i bother?

Last time i was skiing, i almost accidentally front flipped a few times because i'd get sudden instances of intense friction from the fronts of my skis. I was also overall slow, compared to my brother who was on chronics (orange ones), which have sintered bases i think. I have still have first gen disorderlys which, after however many seasons of use, have really lost there speed. i wax them myself, scrape and all that. But they're really pitifully slow at this point. Plus they've got a fair amount of scratches and ptex repaired gouges in the bases. couple that with lots of rails and some grade F NJ slush, which is barely snow most of the time and i've got the recipe for no speed. And i like going fast so thats not cool. Snow was a lot faster at night obviously, but during the day, horrible.

i figure structuring these would be dumb since i'd probably do away with the structure right? and i need the amount of base i still have left. Slow bases are my only concern as i was thinking of getting halos eventually.

any opinions? tips to make skis faster?

do your skis even have sintered bases?

regardless, you should get a stone grind. It won't remove tons of base material, but it will put a pattern into your base which will help with suction. As you glide over snow, you melt it turning it to water. Your base needs wax but also structure to break up this surface tension.

If your bases are extruded, pick up some Maxi Glide. It is a rub on specifically made for extruded bases. You'll have to apply it every day, but it works.
