Base advice for steel rail

Ive searched for this, and cant find it. Might be missing it. O'well.

My question is this. I am planning on making a double barrel rail with inch and a half or two inch steel rails. Im thinking either FD, FDF, or DFD; if you have other suggestions, let me know. My main question is if i should weld bases on the legs, or go with no bases and dig it in. I want bases so that i can easily move it around, but i dont want to make a weak, cheesy rail. Will bases be sturdy enough? If so, who wide should they be for a rail in the 20 to 30 foot range. Thanks.

I have a couple options. Either the same steel tubing that the rail is made of, or 1/4" by 6" flat steel. Im not sure that the flat steel would be stiff enough though.

i think fdf would be fun. Maybe make 3 seperate rails so you can make whatever. I would use about 3.5 inch width. It would be big enough to try stuff, but not too big to he unpretzelable.
