BAKER/ WHISTLER ANYONE?

anyone been up to baker in the last week? if so, how's it been? im heading up back up there the 26th-27th and hoping that its at least soft if not knee deep.

also, anyone been to whistler lately? heading up there the 28th for a week and am praying that its decent.

if anyone is going to be at baker on the 27th, leave something on this thread. it'd be nice to actually ride with skiers for once, instead of waiting around for snowboarders.
 
we've had fresh snow everyday pretty much. i've havent been skiing the past two days, but i hear they have been great too. 6 inches to knee deep. its all been blower too. make plans for the 26th to be the busiest day of the year. last year they filled up the white salmon parking lot and started parking people around the loop at the upper base area. i'll be riding morning on the 26th, afternoon on the 27th. give a shout if you still need somebody to ride with.

should make a good pow day on tuesday since the baker isnt open on christmas. its snowing up there right now, too.
 
what up cliff, thanks for a update... ive been checking the weather everyday, but its nice to have some first hand answers. so i guess its gonna be super tracked out by the 27th rolls around eh? oh well, its still baker.

yea i'd be down to make some turns. post up your outfit and i'll keep a lookout.

i'll prolly be easy to spot. i got a bright yellow hat, with a red coat, black pants and first gen seth pistols (bright yellow). so yell your ass off if you see me. lol
 
i'm currently riding rossignol sickbirds w/alpine bindings. they've got white topsheets with red/yellow/orange retro stripes. i'll have black pants, and either a tan or blue coat. probably a condom beanie too. my name is nick.
 
I heard Baker is sick right now. I've only been 3x (not this year) and all the times I went it was the worst snow, i mean worst shit ever. I realize I went up at bad times but I wanna check it out this year. Only thing I don't like is the slow lifts but when the snow is good I'm sure it would more thna make up for it. Do they have a park at Baker?
 
yea, they got one. and you should spend the money and time and go there! its worth it.

i was there 3 days before thanksgiving this year, and i skied waist deep or more for 2 days straight. baker is the alpha, and omega. hail.
 
Ya I want to go sorta but the last 3 times I went it was the worst skiing ever without a doubt. It's a 3 hour drive as well and I don't like slow lifts...

wow I need to stop bitchin and just go. I have this bias though because of the last 3 times I went.

i dont know james heim, but considering how many times i have seen him at mt baker, im guessing this was sarcastic. if you also moan about stuff like this, i think that 1)you dont like baker, and 2)baker doesnt like you. we have slow lifts, shitty food, even worse terrain parks, but we probably have some of the most x to the extreme skiing with the best snow and coverage in the country. oh yeah, and if you want to ski pow on the 26th, come early because im guessing you dont know where to find the hidden stashes of snow.

i wasnt trying to say baker's the best, we only have 1500 feet of vertical drop with low elevations. but jackson only has a 53 inch base right now, as we have 135. once they get more snow, they'll probably be better.

BAKER was sick yesterday. I got first run down the Knob, second down pea garden, first down part of chicken ridge, and a sweet shot down to ohy valley. Along with a couple man cans of Ronnyae and some sweet patato fries = Baker is the shit.
 
baker is sweet, i was up the 26th and 27th (today), and it was good, nice soft conditions.

If any of you guys are up there... i have K2 AK Enemy's (06/07), and Rossi Scratch FS's (03/04), give me a shout.
 
well, i think i got a job at mt baker, so i'll prolly be living up there. so i'll definatly have some make some turns with you guys sometime.

anyone know how the snow at whistler is?
 
i might be working in food service, cliff. when i talked to jethro last week, it sounded pretty promising. so we'll see tomorrow.

if any of you are going to be up on new years eve, look for first gen seth's and shout SAM.

 
whistler had some good snow this past week, mixed in with the normal "its so fucking windy and i can't see shit" weather.

lots of pros in town too.
