Bag and shoes stolen from top of Palmer 11/29

Seriously who goes to the top of Palmer, almost 8500', and steals old shoes and a crappy book bag? Be careful with your stuff folks. My wife and I left our shoes and some water and food at the top of Palmer in an old book bag and went skiing on Friday. We like to do this so we have shoes to wear in the parking lot to save some damage to our boots. On the 29th our bag was stolen between about 2 and 2:30. All that was in our bag was 2 pair of old shoes some empty disposable water bottles banana peels and garbage. The only thing that pisses me off more than getting my stuff stolen is the thought that this same ass hat might have just littered my stuff once they realized what it was. Anyways it is nothing I cannot do without. I know that theft is always a possibility so I didn't leave anything of value in my bag. In the future I am going to hide anything I stash on the mountain even if it is very low value. I had to drive home in socks but I didn't let it affect my plans. We still stopped at fearless brewing to fill our growler with strong scotch ale which was excellent. Whoever stole my smelly shoes will get it from karma in the end.

Dude first of all that sucks man and at least nothing too important got stolen. I would suggest to leave your stuff in the day lodge. There's also a lot of great hiding spots in the lodge too put stuff up in. Also Fearless is awesome and thanks for supporting a local restaurant!

From talking to the staff at Timberline it sounds like unattended stuff is getting jacked on a regular basis. Probably just a couple of really lame people that are currently pretty active. Spread the word, be careful with your stuff.

@supendousman. The public bathroom situation is Estacada is not the best. Fearless has a prominent sign on the door about the bathroom being for "paying customers only". I don't think I'd even try unless I was buying beer. They have a nice bathroom that I have used when filling a growler and they didn't even question my wife wearing ski boots at the bar. Private business can do what they want. That being said I try to plan ahead so I don't have to go in Estacada. There is a "Rest Area" sign to the north of town and there are two public restroom buildings that are always locked. Plenty of cover to use the trees in the park but it is kinda creepy especially for my wife. Try to hold it until Sandy if you are headed up, or until Molalla if you are heading down.

I live in Estacada haha, just recalling back to an experience when I was about 8 when my family and I were in there for our first time debating on what to order and I asked where the bathroom was. The guy was super rude to me and made a big deal about the fact that we had to order something. Haven't been back since, the Wong's King next door is better anyway.

"The guy was super rude to me and made a big deal about the fact that we had to order something."I don't blame you for not wanting to go back. Businesses need to be careful about their first impressions from the get go. The brewery in my hometown, "Seven Brides Brewing" , pretty much ignored me the first time I went in and it will take some seriously good service for me to ever recommend the place. Overall it seems like your town is pretty chill. You have some awesome murals, in particular that mushroom mural is awesome.

We have a big festival (read- hippie fest) every year in late July that takes over main street with vendors and a stage for performers and stuff, a new mural gets painted every year during that time. We have a pretty artsy community, next time you go to fearless there is an art gallery across the street with some neat stuff.

Ya do this please! My mother is the president of that co-op gallery known as the Spiral Gallery. Also i got to admit you should go to Wong King next time there food is actually pretty good and also during the festival there is free soap.

Wong King is a great name. Awesome, thanks for the tips, I'll try to check out that gallery some time. Cheers!

Good news. Timberline found my bag and my wife's shoes yesterday. Her shoes are still in good shape which is far better than we expected. My shoes were not found. Awesome customer service from Timberline to watch for my stuff and contact me as soon as they found it.

Once like ten years ago I had a bag stole that had like gloves lenses hats and some other random gear and got jacked. I guess my fault for thinking it wouldn't get jacked but ya sucks dude!

I always lock my shit up. Then again i keep camera gear in my bag (lenses and stuff) so i always look for lockers and rent one so i know my shit is safe. IF not i hide it in my car with handwarmers and warm shit near it so not to ruin my lenses and gear
