i like them...a lot. they're music is very interesting and isnt easy to explain. if you try to explain it, it sounds like Operation Ivy, but they dont sound like Op Ivy. they are definately cool

you mentioned Op Ivy with Bad Brains you must die...nothing against Op Ivy but naming a ska band in the same breath as one of the best hardcore bands in history is insulting.

Bad Brains is not one of the best hardcore bands in history. Nowheres ever close to bands like Minor Threat, Ten Yard Fight, Youth Of Today.

Don't get me wrong with this, I love Bad Brains, and I love Minor Threat, and I think it's awesome that there are kids on this site who like hardcore but I think that Minor Threat is a much better band than Bad Brains. Lyrically, there's a lot more to Minor Threat than XXX, and probably a lot more that you can relate to than the rasta preach coming from Bad Brains-- although it's just the same with Bad Brains: there's more to it. I'm not making a very good point... Minor Threat is just better.

i wasnt comparing the two. what i said was meant only to state that there really is no way to aptly describe Bad Brains' music without them sounding like someone that sounds nothing like them. Minor Threat is one of, if not the, greatest hardcore bands ever. they were by far the best thing to come out of the DC scene at the time. if you can look past the sXe thing, their lyrics are great and very, very insightful. i didnt like Fugazi very much though. no, not a Fugazi fan. the sXe thing is their choice, just like its your choice to drink and smoke pot. im not sXe myself, but i am Poison Free and i love minor threat and bad brains

I just like Minor Threat more than Bad Brains. I have gone through a couple of Fugazi phases... but they always seem to pass quickly.

Fugazi has a few good songs, but they're music overall doesnt compare to minor threat. minor threat provoked thought, rage and compassion in a weird type of way. they captured the hardcore punk persona perfectly.

Youth Crew represent, Youth of Today is totally different than Bad Brains...I like them and even own all first additions of all their albums. But they played a very simple style of hardcore and their songs had no meaning other than be straightedge and be nice to animals. TYF was great, being from boston and of age I saw them dozens of times when I was in high school...but 10 more years until they are allowed to be legends like Bad Brains. Minor Threat is legendary, easy enough. You just listed cliche bands, I would have respected your opinion more if you said Negative FX, Jerry's Kids, SSD, or hell use the other cliche Black Flag. Along with Bad Brains and Minor Threat they pretty much started hardcore.
