the other day my board came never ridden a board before... so i cruise around my neightborhood for a couple days the head up to this mellow hill me and my friends have been looking at. take my first run fine just some nice carving hike back up a little farther this time and head down about 1/2 way down i get crazy speed wobbles at about 20-25 the road is coming into a turn around circle and i gotta bail i get off and try to run it out but end up doing somewhat of a baseball slide on my right side pretty bad road rash on my whole leg

so i wana hear everyone elses 1st longboarding experiences

I was riding to Micky D's on the main road on a sorta fast but long road.......the white line began to get smaller until it dissapeared so i was riding in the road

I saw cars coming from each side of the road going like 30 around the long bend.....I had to move or the car would crash, or at least I thought(narrow road)...so I tried to ride into someone driveway that was full of sticks

the sticks got caught in my board and launched me forward on to a beat up rocky driveway that cut up my elbow pretty bad

turns out I should have kept on riding like my friend....I rode another 2 miles and Mcdonalds gave me like 50 bandages I used them all they had ronald Mcdonald on them

later me and my friends rode another 3 miles got lost then got a ride from a stranger for about 5 miles to the gym we were trying to find to watch a gym show

we were short 3 dollars so we could not get in so we rode 2 miles back up the rode and got picked up

it was not a fun night because my arm hurt all night I have a nasty scar

My story not longboarding but I was bombing a hill and saw a car at the corner and thought it would hit me,so I jump off the front and try to run it off but I fell. I mess up my back, shoulder, and arm pretty good,I learn never to jump off the front when going down hill.

i never had a really bad crash for like 2 years(road rash isnt that bad to me), till last summer when i was carving some steeper hills in my town, my wheel caught and I flipped forward. Landed all my body weight on my left arm completely extended out, dislocated my wrist and broke it, and broke my elbow

I would post the nasty pics but quite a while back my computer crashed and I lost the blood pictures, I wrecked my foot and kinda my knee the scars are finally getting less noticable after 2 years

this retarded kid i know tried to ride his longboard down this hill he had never done, started going way too fast, and decided the way to slow down was to jump off and run. he cant run 25 mph. his dumb ass rolled about 40 feet down the road then he slid about 15 feet on his right shoulder. he got a pretty neat-o raspberry

it wasnt my first time but probably one of my nastier falls i was bombing the barker access road at sunday river (some of you may know this road) but i was on a regular street deck that i had jacked up with 70mm kryptoclassics and i got some real nice wobble going, tried to ride it out but eventually got bucked forward and i rolled sort of leftish and ended up landing on my right side facing head first slid out about 10 feet on flesh had some nasty road rash and fucked my arm and knee up pretty good.

it only sucked cuz it was the first day of april vacation and we had just skiied the river that day and were headed from there straight to vermont to shred killi and stowe for break so the first half of the week i was laid up cuz my knee was tweaked. still got to ski 4/20 at killi though.

first longboarding experience. Was riding a smooth run by the river where I slowly started to learn how to just carve back and forth. but then it turned to a hill and coming up the hill was a group of bikers who were stuborn and wouldn't move. So i jumped off and got scrached a little but the board went into the shallow part of the river. I got wet, and it was cold, damn.

I guess i haven't really crashed yet. Well once i was cruising with my girlfriend on the same board and she didnt want to turn and i did so we both fell off. I was more worried for her i didnt give a shit that my hand was torn to shreds. But she just laughed and said it was fun. haha

my friend on the other hand got a board and crashed twice in the first 3 hours. once where he got wobbles and thought he was gonna hit a car so he tumbled and tore open his head and hand and then another time he ran into a parked car and left a dent. hahahaha

I get to government camp, longboard down a tiny hill to the condo, and lose control and skid on the road. This was the day before my week at Windells and i tore myself up.

Perfect

First day ever longboarding, i had no idea how to really carve and was just hitting gentle hills getting up to twenty then riding it out. didn't have one crash. later that day, i was rolling around on a rough parking lot, barely moving. board came out from under me like a n00b, and i came down on my elbow. hurt like a bitch for two seconds then didn't feel anything. ten minutes later my friends pointed out that my sleeve was soaked in blood. i pulled my sleeve up and it looked like my elbow grew a vagina.

Well i started longboarding when i was in 6th grader, where i made my first board in shop class. I didn't crash until last summer (2009) where there was this crazy new paved road that was pretty much a longboarder's dream. So smooth. Well i'm going down in on my shitty ass sector 9 with those double trucks (they suck nuts for going fast) and i start getting nasty speed wobbles, then i just crash and roll. i got some road rash, no too bad.

Then, last fall, I was riding down my road on my dancer, practicing shuvs. (it's fucking difficult as hell on that huge thing) and i'm coming around, and it slips out from underneath me, and i break my arm.

About a week later, i'm bombing a hill on my dancer, get speed wobbles, fall off and get some naasssttyyy road rash on my side and elbow and shoulder. that sucked.

So thosse are my bad longboard experiences.

There's a hill near my house, you can get up to 25-30 on it. Anyway, it's my second day with my KS Scimitar, and I decide to hit it. I don't know how to carve, my stance is horrible, my weight is on my back foot, and I have no idea how to board. So I'm basically just praying I don't fall. I make it almost all the way down, have gnarly speed wobbles the whole time, and take an epic crash right before the bottom. I tried to run it out, on my second step I just collapsed and slid on my shoulder, knee, and elbow for about 15 feet.

i did this last summer. inexperience kills.

on may way back from my gf's work i was going over a bridge and i was looking at the water, got a little too close to the fence, wheel and front of the board went under the fence and literally got stuck, i almost cracked my head open and it took like 5 minutes to get it out.

oh heres a pic

well i was multi-tasking and just riding down my newly paved street. i was longboarding, talking on the phone, had a popsicle in between my pinky and ring finger of the hand i was holding my phone in and i was drinking a coke, so i wasnt really paying attention and hit a parked car. it hurt really badly.

not my story but last week a kid i know was cruising down this hill and he was going like 25 or something and he hit a pickup truck with a boat on the back, his shins dented the fender of the boat rack and he smacked his head into the boat and had to get brain surgery, i saw him yesterday and he has 15 fat staples in his head, pretty intense.

My friend hopped on my longboard a couple weeks ago for the first time down this mellow little hill. He got halfway down and tried to jump off or something, and ended up doing a judo roll on the pavement and breaking his collarbone. Nobody believed him when he was lying on the ground because the fall looked pretty mellow.

my first time, i thought for sure I was ready. I hopped on with what I thought was smooth style, pumped a couple times as hard as I could, kind of wobble back and fourth then busted in like 20 seconds. Embarrassed, I put on my pants and ran out the door as the longboard just kind of laughed and at the same time looked very disappointed.

So learn to longboard early guys, waiting until you are 29 like me is not a good idea.

I had ridden longboards and shit my whole life but my first serious experience bombing a hill I was really really drunk, the hill was way too steep (like i've bombed it since and you easily go over 30), I wasn't wearing a helmet, and I fell off a LOT like at least 5 times going really fast, and I cracked my head open it was bleeding and shit. Moral of the story wear a helmet.

I got my first actual longboard when summer started, but i had longboarded before. 2nd day i am going down a pretty steep hill at somewhere around 30ish probably and I thought i had really bad speed wobble but i didnt...idk what i was thinking but like the OP i bailed and tried to run it out, tripped and literally flew 20 feet before landing on my unprotected arms and skidding another 100 feet.

Not 1st longboard experience, but a bad one. Was going like 40 into a hairpin at a local race, pre-drifted on toeside, hit a rock, skidded on my back for like 20 yards down hill, just wrecked the hell out of myself. no leathers cause it was an outlaw race. Anyway, i got a OP thread jack, who is a sponsored downhiller if anyone on this site is serious? I was offered a spot on the OS team, and i rode for stoked skateboards on T2 for awhile.

i was just crusing down a pretty mellow hill and t the bottom was a was a road that went left/right and a car went by so i had to bail going 30-35 and tryed to make it to the grass but rolled on the pavement first had some pretty bad road burn on my back and shoulder and tweaked my shoulder real good and when i went to get my long board i found a bag of weed so itll all worked out

first month riding everythings good and fun. I go to school in boston so hopping into the road when there's no traffic is key so your not riding the "budump.....budump" cracks of the sidewalk. Hop out there and start kicking like all hell to catch speed on this nice smooth road. Well turns out my wheels stick out farther than my deck and i caught my back wheel on one of the kicks...it stopped the board and ejected me off the front. I supermaned horizontal a good 7ft. and slowed myself to a stop with my palms and hip bones. Everyone on the side walk was like OMG! asked if i was ok. Of course i was a man about it and said nah im good. But I got to the store we we're heading to and wanted nothing more than my mom while I cleaned out the debris from my skin.

THENNNN about 2.5-3 weeks later when everything was healing We were riding a switchback walk way in a park. going to fast to make thenlast turn so i ditched and reopened everything

A few nights ago I was carving up some paths and was pushing my board harder than normal, like really throwing my weight around. I have a 46" sector 9 so it's definitely not a board for sliding. I feel my back wheels sliding out and I'm all "this fells fucking sick", they regain traction and I just get tossed off the side. Luckily it's a fairly narrow path so I fly into the brush. Scrapped my knee on the pavement, but most of me landed on the dirt. I would have skinned the shit out of my palms/forearms had I landed fully on the asphalt. And that's the only time I've ever had a fall of any consequence while on my board.

a couple months ago, i was riding down this mellow hill that i had done like at least 10 times before. it was getting kinda dark, so i didnt spot this pothole in the street. i only notice it when its like 1 foot in front of my board, and by the time it had clicked in my head and i was thinking "oh fuck", my wheel got caught in it, i flew off the front, and just slid and rolled to a stop. i had minor road rash on my palms, elbows and knees, but i slid for a while on my right hip, so my shorts had fully torn, and my right hip had some dirty road rash. i still have a big, red circular scar on my hip and i dont think its going anywhere anytime soon aha
