Backyard Bungee Setup

Hey guys, I already posted this in the Build-A-Jib cult but im hoping to get more responses. I recently built a backyard setup and I'm just not getting the speed I want and already have a bungee. Could some please give me an idea of how I should set it up and what my approach should be like? Thanks

Im not sure i really understand your question...The bungee should be fixing the problem...

If you don;t have a hill or a started then bungee is pretty much the only way to get speed...

Not everyone has a hill dude? And don't be a newschoolersmt douche or no one is going to help you in the future, especially since you've only had an account for a couple days..

I built a drop in already and am considering making it taller if this whole bunge idea doesn't work. My idea was to have a completely flat approach and then just let the bungee do the work of getting me my speed

I cant upload pictures but I'll try to explain a little better. So basically I have a drop in, to a flat, to a jump up onto the rail. My jump was WAY to steep so I made it a more mellow approach but every time I drop in I end up either stoping on the jump (from not enough having enough speed) or getting on the rail (but not having enough speed to slide the whole rail). So my idea was to replace the drop in with just a long flat strip of turf that leads to the jump, and the bungee would just pull me across the turf. Not sure if that made sense, but hopefully you have a little bit of a better understanding.

Yea thanks for the description, helped a bit.I somewhat had the same problem with my first summer set up.

I had a pretty big starter that i made out of wood and covered it with turf, the problem was when i got to the bottom, the transition btwn the starter and jump was too intense. Making it less intense did help a bit but i definitely understand your frustration.

Sure a bungee would help, but do u rlly feel like pulling it back every time u want to hit the rail? I think u should try different things with the starter.. make the slope longer and not as steep? build a transition between the slope and jump so it flows better.

IF you can upload picts and i'm sure someone on here will have a great idea that will help..

Do you not have snow? turf isnt the best.. obviously on snow ull get more speed with the starter. Did u put soap on the turf? it'll make it faster

I do not have snow so that's why I use turf. And yes I soap/water it down. I think I'm loosing most of my speed at the tranny and jump, so maybe I should try and fix that?

btwn the slope of the starter and the jump, is the turf directly on the ground?? If so, try putting a piece of ply wood under.. the ground will jsut absorb all your speed. one of the mistakes i made with my first summer set up..

I know you posted in Build-A-Jib, but did you check out the Sticky: 11 Tips for getting, and keeping speed ?

Everything from turf to animal birthing lube has been tried and tested. If it isn't covered, it probably hasn't been invented.

However, having not seen your set up, I agree with -dAvE-'s comments regarding tranny and turf directly on the ground. Your tranny needs to be mellow and you at least need to put thick construction plastic under your turf. If your turf is directly on the ground, when you add water it will turn the turf to sand paper. You also look into plastic lattice fencing. Sold at homedepot and lowes, it is a cheap and fast sliding surface, but not good for lip. Construction fence on top of turf is better for the lip.

Hope that helps.

my .02:

-bungie requires at least 2 if not 3 people. and each hit is a pain in the ass.

-starter/drop in requires no extra person and can be hot lapped without dealing with resetting the bungie.

Thanks for the help. I ended up adding the wood underneath which helped a TON. I kind of incorporated the idea of a bunge and a drop in and it seems to work great.

Luckily, I have a twin brother that skis also and we are always together haha so having extra people around to help pull the bungee isn't an issue to me. But I deffinetly understand what you mean about it being a pain. It is for sure quite annoying to have to pull back haha

Put some plastic lattice on your drop-in and make sure everything is always wet. Soap helps too
