im deciding between the dakine heli pro and the burton baker pack.

which ones better for backcountry skiing? any other ideas too

I don't know anything about the Burton one, but if you're planning on doing real backcountry the Heli Pro is really pushing it. I've done it with mine, but it sucks when you have to leave things behind because the pack is too small, then end up needing them 4 hours and 3,000' away from the car. I would recommend looking at something more along the lines of the BD Anarchist.
