Backflip tips please + k

80% in the head bro, trust me, backflips are the easiest things mankind invented, however, to get through it you must be confident. But their are few things to do to land on your skis.

Once ou arrive on top of the kicker, pop nicely (otherwise your head will hit the kicker) pull your head backwards as if you want to look the sky.

Dont close your eyes or you'll stop rotating. Don't block your rotation until you see the landing (now you're gonna tell me "but how do I know, it goes too fast", well, first, you will see the landing, and second, you can feel it, instinctly you'll stretch and land nicely)

Don't worry, and try it in powder (not deep pow) but just enough to absorb a bit more the impact in case you fall.

Set it like you would on a tramp but bring your knees to your chest once you set allowing your legs to come over your head.

As your going through the inrun, think about keeping your core tight and remind yourself to be patient. If you start to lean back/flip before ALL OF YOUR SKI is airborn, it will not end well. I have to really remind myself to wait on my pop and rotation, much more than on a three.

Case in point...I have had backies dialed for about a month now and have landed at least 40 of them on jumps ranging from pipe exits to 30 foot step downs. I was fucking around with some friends at bear mt last weekend and was talking to a buddy on the in-run of a decent step down. I decided last minute to flip, but i set to early and didn't pop. I under-rotated and slid down the landing face first. It took all the skin off my nose and tore my bottom lip away from my gums. 12 stitches and some good laughs later, I now know that even though they are super easy tricks, I still have to pay attention!

Anyway....mine was a COMPLETE freak accident. I wouldn't let it deter you at all. I went back up to the hill when I got out of the ER and threw one more off the same jump for good measure, so don't let it scare you.

That said...my fucking mouth hurts and I can't eat solid food for a week. I want NS pity.

I disagree with it all being from the head - most of the goobers you see go upside down and stop are the ones that just throw their head back.

I was taught that you pop it from your hips and thighs. You thrust your hips up and forwards ("like you're smashing a hot chick", I was told...) and allow the motion to flow through your upper body so your shoulders and then head go back smoothly.

The tip about not throwing it until you're off the lip is a good one, if you huck it too soon (which is common when you're just learning them as everyone is terrified of scorpioning) you'll just be fighting the pop of your tails and also risk hitting the back of your head on the takeoff.

its all about the hips when they teach out a backflip, alot of people compinsate for not intiating with there hips, and end up popping off their heels, which can end really badly. pop hard off your toes, and set with your hips, then just pull it around. confidence is super important to . you got this bro

Don't psych yourself out. The worst possible thing to do is overthink it. When you are going through the inrun, find a peaceful mental state and focus on how you are going to execute the trick. Don't think about crashing. Think about how sick it's going to look on film :)

Don't puss out on your in run and come at the jump too slow.

Don't puss out halfway through your rotation.

If you manage those you'll do fine.

pull your legs into your chest and huck it hard opn a steep jump. good luck. also try on tramp or into pool first then pow or pile of soft snow or slush, then park bump.

One of my goal tricks for this season too. Gotta get it done. I have no tips except make sure you can do them on a tramp, goodluck

Wear a helmet, soften up your landing in case your fuck up, which you shouldn't. When you pop off the top you lean back and then tuck in your knees, spot your landing then bring your legs around and meet that pow brotha.

Really easy, just mostly getting over your fear.

Just dont think about it too much, there easier on skis then they are on tramp, as long as you lean back and tuck your knees it will make you flip tucking your knees bring your weight and makes you so just make a nice kicker and a soft landing so it wont be as bad when landing backseat

For your first couple times, throw your arms up if the jump isnt that big. Trust me, until you've done them a few times, you'll want to start with your arms at your hips, and as you reach the lip of the jump and pop, throw them up, rotate and stomp it
